Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i have just come home and i heard a recurring sound in the engine bay (2 rounds/sec) and the frequency of the sound is proportionate to engine revs,, it sounds like rubbing or something loose,, any ideas?

POST 2Original post

What the heck is it with all the "noises" here late. I have no idea, did you look at your belt? Did you take it off and run the engine? Does it sound rubber? Metallic? plastic? Give us some clues here dude! If go to the doc office and tell him. Something hurts in my torso.... Hes nto just going to say "oh we have to remove your liver." Sorry, I am a bit sarcastic.... But friendly..... Really

POST 3Original post

I had brats marinated in beer with kraut and beans the other day. I heard a noise while driving but I can tell you is was not the car

POST 4Original post

I think it's something rubbing or maybe something loose.

POST 5Original post

700/60 = 11.7 11.7/6 = 1.95 1.95 is pretty close to 2 Or 700/6 = 116.7 116.7/60 = 1.95 This doesn't exactly mean clean the exhaust tips and while the engine is running and you at the back of the car hold one hand each over each exhaust tip but eh try it and see whats up. Good for feel and any smell on hands. Can even feel for strength of exhaust looking for a weak pulse. And or pull the plugs looking for an odd colored one. Or check everything out. Or take it to a mechanic and he'll love you

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i took a look this morning and found that the lower pulley on the left (driver) side has some play,, what is that?

POST 7Original post

The whining sound? Its an omen. All the 996 will go boom soon. LOL. seriously, im sure its nothing serious. from the solutions by our friends here its either the AOS/ 2nd air pump or the rollers

POST 8Original post

A pulley with play. Do you know what kind of noise you are hearing? Pulley bearings, valves, rods, missfiring or what. All any of us know is that there is a noise. Mabuhi!!!! Manny's the man!!

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7421050

POST 17Original post

I would say that sir is the water pump there Chris fixed it for ya

POST 18Original post

The water pump pulley is at the lower left hand side. It makes a chirping sound at idle when it is going south followed by puking all the coolant. Ask me how I know.....

POST 19Original post

Mine ****Canned at my last DE and on the first run. It was not fun but mine was a leak and got it taken care of before it completely died. I feel your pain.
