Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, usually I am pretty right on with what I want. Sometimes you get thrown a curve. Both are 2002's (Late model so both have glove boxes) I LOVE both colors. BOTH are the same price. Gray: Has 52k miles all records (including RMS etc) 1 owner. CF full interior heated seats and gray interior. White: Has 38k miles and SOME records, 2 owner. Only interior upgrade is shifter/ebrake/gauges (no heated seats as the one above). Black interior Of the two the Gray one is better optioned but has more miles. Gray is more common than White. Yet the White one has less history and less options (although not base). Votes and comments are welcome

POST 2Original post

I vote white on black for 2 reasons: 1) White is "rarer" on a C4S; 2) I prefer contrasting exterior & interior colors.

POST 3Original post

Single owner + all records + more options trumps colour + less miles IMHO. I think more miles are not necessarily a bad thing as long as you know the service history! White would be a great colour, but the rest of the package is better with the Gray C4S!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hear you. I am leaning Gray as the full history helps now AND down the road if I sell it in the future. Both passed PPI's with flying colors to.

POST 7Original post

Grey interior will turn dirty brown... White is Rare and may hold more value later...

POST 8Original post

I really am partial to the grey but the contrasting colors look better. Plus if you grow tired of the white you always add some cool flame stickers to the side.........ok....kidding. White over black anytime.

POST 9Original post

I agree with the that the gray interior will look dirty and worn with age more so than the black.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Actually I should clarify. They Gray is the Gray/Black combo you can get. Lower portion carpets etc in black. It also has the full CF console, steering wheel console surround and door pulls.

POST 11Original post

I would be more interested in the car with more options. Both cars have relatively low miles for the age. The question you need to ask yourself is which one are you excited about? Both are in great shape and taken care of. From experience I have been very satisfied with the black interior, and it seems to wear well. Good luck! I look forward to seeing the pics once you have decided.

POST 12Original post

Decide what options are truly important to you...don't assume that more options = higher resale value later on, because that doesn't generally wash. Unless of course we're talking about $$$ engine options like X50/51 PCCBs or full leather (I mean FULL leather where even the dash vents are leather covered) or full carbon interior package.

POST 15Original post

I have the grey with black (black carpets, mats) interior in my black 2003 targa with only the e-brake and shift lever in Carbon and I really like the interior look. You almost only notice the grey, but the black (I think) minimizes dirt/damage on the lower interior carpet. The grey is holding up well for its age, although I don't really have a reference to compare. I clean the consoles with armor all cleaning wipes every few weeks and use Zaino Brothers leather cleaner and Leather in a Bottle conditioner a few times a year. I'd go with the heated seats and extra options if you like the CF look. When its cold those seat heaters are fantastic... Grey + grey is my vote. Good luck and post pics when you choose! Lawrence

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have to say that I had Gray in my TT and had no issues. But I also wiped it down (as I do ones with Black) monthly. It is good to keep any leather clean. If the white had Sport Seats....THAT would be a show stopper

POST 21Original post

In Denver I guess it depends on what you like. Snow, or do you drive it only when clean and sunny or what ever else you care for a reason.

POST 22Original post

Sounds like a monochromatic car to me. Grey or white? That's it?

POST 24Original post

Grey all day!!!! Definately the grey one. nicer optioned, with 1 owner and all the records? nuff said.

POST 26Original post

If any paint work, pick the other. Low millage should have less cosmetic ware.

POST 27Original post

My grey interior has held up very well - hasn't turned brown at all and I don't obsess over cleaning it. Go test drive both of them again and buy the one that speaks to you the most. Post pics when you pick one.

POST 28Original post

My vote goes to the white. It's a rare color for the c4s and plus the black interior will definitely hold up better than the grey interior in my opinion.

POST 29Original post

I voted for white. The C4S looks hot in white. Get a proper PPI.

POST 30Original post

I would pick White also... But if you don't choose it. Let me know as I may be interested!!

POST 31Original post

Is it really GRAY or some sort of silver variant?

POST 32Original post

White. If I could find a white 996TT, my C4S would be for sale.

POST 33Original post

White! I always wanted white, couldn't find one.

POST 34Original post

white fo sho. where is this "white" one? just kidding, but a white C4S is bad a$$.

POST 35Original post

picture a set of Rays 6 spoke BRONZE mags.... WHITE 4S.....??? Do yourself a favor and search pictures of Whiteys car...

POST 36Original post

Right now the poll results are 3 to 1 in favor of white. So have you bought it yet? Where are the @#$%^&* pics?

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tim you crack me up Working on the papers now. A slight hitch came up on the white one. So I am going for the Seal Gray. I love the white as well (VERY MUCH) but the options and history are really swaying me. The white has a Carfax discrepancy that looks to be an honest fat finger error but you never know. A preliminary pic will be up once funds xfer PS: What's with the Honda Got a wing and Neon on it yet PPS: Funny how so many of us lurk even when we are without a PCar huh? Although you ARE the official picture harassment leader (and I support you)

History is crap... do a PPI to really reveal what's going on. Spend the $300 or so.. BELIEVE ME, no "clean history" will reveal as much as a PPI.

POST 39Original post

What are the future modifications going to be?

POST 40 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

PPI's came back clean. But you and I know how people will beat you up if there is an issue on the CF Mods? What Mod's? Who ME!? Suspension, wheels, Front, Rear, Exhaust etc. The NA car is a great bullet proof car. Loved my TT. But so finicky per si. And of all the PCars I have had I loved my C4S the best. Why? Not sure. I have to say I see more TT's than C4S's around here. Heck, today I saw a 993TT in Adventura Green out in the crappy snow/wet roads. I was like......"Dude, you lost?" Plus I have a set of 19in Techart Formulas in the Garage just screaming for a car to go on

POST 41Original post

Grey will look terrible with the Techarts, I'll take them off your hands.

POST 43Original post

My favorite mods are: GT console delete (suncoast Porsche) and short shifter kit. Both can be installed at the same time as you have to remove the center console for both. after that, get thee to a drivers' ed event. you will never know the car until you live >5k rpm for a while. I have owned P-cars for 35 yrs. this is the best one since my first, 1972 911S (wish i still owned it!) Surfer161

POST 44Original post

I think Tim is quite familiar with P-car mods http://misha911.com/gallery/996/996_...GT2M_red-1.jpg

POST 45Original post

Hey OP By the description of the white one, could it be the one in New Orleans??? If so, what didn't fly with that one? I'm asking because I am currently looking into it...
