Wouldn't it be nice if the German unit of Porsche could use your work.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Those of you that have been on the 996 Forum for a few years probably know much of this story, but the Newbies and rookies may not, so .........
Background to this story..........
In early 2006, when we were living in the Charlotte, NC area, I got caught in a corporate downsizing situation. I was unemployed for about 10 months.
In late 2006, I went to work for an insurance company for about a year. While I worked my *** off 6 days a week, I got very little pay, so I left there to resume my search for a real job. Unemployed for 3 months.
In February 2008, I started a new job in Dallas. We moved from Charlotte, NC to Dallas that summer. The day before we closed on the Dallas house, the owners of the company announced the sale of 65% of the stores. My Dallas job ended in early December of 2008 when they laid off 85% of the corporate staff. Once again, unemployed, this time for 6 months!
BTW, we still owned the Charlotte house but were living in the Dallas house.
<== twice, once for each house! BTW, we finally sold the Charlotte house in September of last year.
In May of 2009, after 6 months of unemployment, I started a 7-week consulting job in Greenville, SC. You are probably wondering
"How did that work out for you?"
Well, this week will conclude my 43rd week of consulting with the same company. However, this week is also the
final week
of my consulting work with this company.
Now the rest of the story...........
I am pleased to tell you that I have accepted an offer for of employment with the company in Greenville, SC. Yes, the same company that I have been working with for the past 11 months. The company is a regional grocery company with 207 stores. My first official day as a "direct hire employee" will be Sunday, March 28th! My wife and I will be moving to the Greenville, SC area. I will continue to commute to and from Greenville until we get the house in Dallas sold. Don't want two house payments again!
I just wanted to share the good news with my friends here on the 996 Forum! Maybe some day I can afford to dump my @#$%^&*ing Honda!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Here is a pic of my former 2004 C2 Lapis Blue 996, which is required to make this thread a topic relevant to the 996 Forum. Without the pic, this gets moved to OT.
good news, all the best....
but, pic fail..no see the pic....friggin newbies... oh wait....

I did some work a few years at the hospital in Greenville. The company I worked at sold the glass canopies above the entrances and I PM'd the job. Great area. I loved flying into that airport.
Good luck!
Thanks guys!
Pete, yes is a breeze to get in and out of the GSP airport. I have been through there so often in the last 11 months, the airpots security guards know me by name. Really!

That is great news Tim. You apparently never gave up and persevered. Nice to hear that you're headed back 'home'. Before you know it, you'll be Hondaless and looking for a 911.Congrats to you and your family.
Tim, you know how I and all of us on the board feel about this. It's been an emotional roller coaster for you. I know you'll get yourself another Porsche - and no one deserves it more than you. I'm thrilled for you and your family. All the best with the position and the move!! We've been waiting for this post from you for too long!! Congrats!!
Tim- these last 4 years have not been kind to you or your wife. We are all so pleased to hear things are improving for you and that you're back on track to acquire another P-car in your future. Best of luck w/ this next transition and even better luck shopping for a new ride.
Oh, you guys can't get rid of me that easily.
I am like the bad penny that keeps showing up on your front walk every day. When you bend over to pick it up, I kick you in the ***!
Tim, that's great news! You will absolutely love Greenville. I am from there and still have tons of family in the area. Great place to live and raise a family. Also, driving in the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains ain't bad either!!!
Is Bi-Lo still HQ'd in the Greenville area?
Tim.... so happy for you! Looks like your coming full circle.... welcome back to the east coast. We were all glad that you didnt leave us when you said that you had to go, and Im glad you stuck it out..... This is all good news for us here in RL.
Tim,
I'm glad that you have continuously managed to find work, seems that your determination has been key. I've been unemployed for the past year, so it's nice to hear some inspirational news!
Jeff
Ferd, thanks. I appreciate it.
Jeff,
I know exactly how you feel. Don't underestimate the potential of your personal/professional networking contacts. I got my last two jobs that way. In both cases it was someone I knew that knew I was looking for a job and they became aware of an available position that I had the experience and skill sets to fill.
I know it gets tough sometimes. You need to have someone you can vent with occasionally. I hope they don't mind my saying this but, Phil and Wayne, here on Rennlist, have been my sounding boards and my punching bags (obviously figuratively) when I needed to vent. The most amazing part of this is the fact that I have never met either of them in person, which is something I would like to do some day.
Let me know if I can help you in any way. I may not be able to help you land a job, but I am a good listener. I am serious about this. Just PM me and we can "talk" via PM, email, or phone. Hang in there!
Tim
Wow! I'm happy to see that there's a happy ending to your story, but I'm very sad that Dallas is going to lose some good people -- you and your family.
Congrats,
///Michael
Tim, although we've never met, I regard you as a friend. I was glad to be there as a sounding board/punch bag because I know that if the shoe were on the other foot you would be there for me. You're a good man and it's an honor to know you and count you as a friend. I've said this before, but I'll say it again - good things always happen to good people and this is a good example to prove it.
...having good people to turn to for advice is important and as Tim said, networking really is the key to finding a job. I know from experience that my best job leads come from my network, so I'm always active in building my network and helping push opportunities out to the people I know - you never know when the person you refer to a position will be able to return the favor and send something your way.
Congrats on being happy to get back to your old stomping grounds. Wouldn't it be nice if the German unit of Porsche could use your work.
So if I'm in bragg before going to the origin of Lapis again I'll hit you up for a drive around. I'll pay you by letting you see my lapis inlaid silver ring
While I'm late to the congratulations party, my good wishes are up there with all of the above ones.
Way to go and your news is wonderful!
Best post this year by far!!
Ha!
Hey Tim, great news -- congrats!
I hope you enjoy your first day, get the other house sold, and get back into a P-car "eines Tages" (one of these days)....
Now go get 'em, and let me know if your chain needs an MPLS network!
