Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Still going to be expensive to install, especially in a Mk1 due to the wiring harness change needed.

So in the long run they may have actually saved some money.

Ruf did use euro gt3 motors in their cars prior before the gt3 came to the US.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

People with a lot of money throw away real expensive stuff. Owner upgraded from a RUF GT3 to a RUF RGT motor. This is just a 12K paperweight!
Kidding, but it reasonably priced.
This would make a very interesting Race car upgrade... I must turn off the computer now and forget that I ever saw this post. I am leaving for VIR today and hopefully when I return this will be gone! LOL.

I take it, this is a conventional M96 motor that was fitted with GT3 heads and cylinders and not a GT3 motor. The CR, heads, Ruf cams, and exhaust boost it approx 65 claimed HP over stock. This does not have the desired features of the GT3 or Turbo lower end, oiling system, crank, etc. This could be still be enjoyable for someone with too much easy money. I however, would want the robust and bulletproof real deal and would pay accordingly.
This is being sold by atspeed motorsports which is about 25 minutes form my house. Never heard of them but I've been looking for a close indy porsche shop.
Anyone have experience with them?
The seller isn't clear about what you suggest. I had no idea it was possible to put a GT3 top end on an M96 motor. From the pictures it appears the dry sump system is intact; how would they merge the two?
That sure looks like a real GT3 engine at an incredible price. Is it wrong to hope for IMS failure before the auction ends? I'm sure I could convince my wife that we had to have it.
Looking closer at the pics and reading what the seller has added, this is a real low mileage GT3 motor. Outstanding buy! Still going to be expensive to install, especially in a Mk1 due to the wiring harness change needed.
Just thinking, if Porsche would have fit these motors into all 996s in the beginning, there would have been very few any motor related issues. The cost to produce a GT3 motor in large numbers would be a little more but probably not significantly more than the M96. Forged parts and exotic metals would add to the cost, but little in the scope of a $65K-$100K car. And these Porsche forums would have very few members with little to talk about.
Even though it may have cost more to produce think about all of the development costs they would have saved by not introducing the M96. So in the long run they may have actually saved some money.
But for repair costs we would have all been screwed since I think these M96 engines are a bit cheaper to maintain.
