Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The key that I have used from day one has worked flawlessly.
Leading evidence: 'Use from day one has worked flawlessly' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'battery' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check manual' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

try to "wake it up" as if the car had been w/o the key for a while (use it in the door, check manual on storage)

That alarm game using the key before entering might be because you go to lock then unlock in too fast of an action.

I don't know why it happens, but if I don't use my spare for ~2-3months the car won't recognize it and I use the lock unlock from the door trick it wakes things up.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys, I bought my car back in late January and it came with two keys. The key that I have used from day one has worked flawlessly. Key #2, however, does not remote lock/unlock anything. Thought it was the battery, so, went a got a new one. NO LUCK
Any ideas?
Tried this and got in the car - alarm goes off! Had to go get key #1 and reset alarm.
I've noticed that the with the key # 1, when I lock/unlock door, the red light blinks a couple of times. On key #2, the red light only blinks once. Possible needs to be reprogrammed at the dealer?
More likely you will have to buy a new key head and bring the working one along with the new head+code tag to a dealer for reprogramming. I bought mine at Sunset Porsche. They are very reasonable the head was ~$35 less then my local dealer wanted. I had to pay $125 for programming. I have read that some dealers will include the programming with the purchase of the head, mine would not.
I bought my C4S in February and I noticed that my remote key has failed to work sometimes and if I insert the key in the door, it "resets" the remote and then the remote seems to work fine, just as Bob mentioned above. Just curious, anyone know why this happens?
Windows 95 based software?

I did have to buy a new head right after I bought the car because one of them was dead.
I've resigned to just inserting the key. That alarm game using the key before entering might be because you go to lock then unlock in too fast of an action.
It is a security feature to make it hard to spoof the rolling code key code. If the key remote has not been used for something like 5 days you have to insert the key, lock and unlock manually. This resets the key code and the push button remote function works. It is in your manual....
