Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

i swapped the wing for a standard rear decklid and now the car is solid at 100 mph.
Leading evidence: 'Replace wing' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace wing' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So there is this car and I saw that it has a huge rear spoiler (like the one I have sitting in the garage for sale ... hint hint...)

Acording to what I now understand this car would be scary at speed with that much down force in back, and no front splitter....right?
This is just for fun.... blast away
yes, absolutely. i had a mk1 wing on my car without the rest of the mk1 aerokit and i experienced quite a bit of lift at speed.
i swapped the wing for a standard rear decklid and now the car is solid at 100 mph.
yup - you got that right.
Maybe the owner didn't like that "light" feeling in the front end?
Maybe they sold because they don't like the way it handles (because they mucked up the rear end!)
Edit: ...and Yasuro's wing now happily resides on my car
and i got mfletch's stock deck lid. sometimes i swear that with all the members contributing a part or 2 we could build another 996 or several. what a franken-car(s) that could be!
for the Franken-car I have a:
stock wing w/ motor and bellows set up too if anyone needs it (dark grey color)
GT2 hood in perfect condition (speed yellow w/ 3m coating on the front 1/3)
GT2 Exhaust (muffler - cats - tips)
dont ask... I have a buying problem,... I am learing to ask BEFORE i pull the trigger now
i've got 2 front tires (pilots) with 50% tread, a standard shifter, and a set of 3.4L cans (i'll be putting in himself's generously priced mk1 modded 3.4L cans this weekend).
I was thinking "Kids up front" since Redridge is offering the 3 birds w/ one stone... (1) adds weight to front (2) stops neck ache from turning around telling them to stop fighting (3) quiets the interior noise lever by a factor or 10 or so
Well, after next weekend I'll have the stock bumper cover to contribute (It has a small tear in it, that I understand can be repaired. I drop the car off for her face lift this afternoon - should take a week)... and the amber side markers...

Let us know what you think. I have the 3.6 modded cans, we will have to get together and compare - when the weather breaks...
Hope you have someplace warm to work!
Ooh, I've got lots of spares:
OEM Center console
Shifter
E-brake assembly
Spare 3.4 rear bumper
Stock 18inch wheels,
2 sets of tires
2 sets of 3.4 mufflers (From my first and second 996).
4 spoke steering wheel
Standard heated power seats with memory
Hey, wait a minute, maybe I should sell this stuff as it's taking space in my basement. LOL
OK, so rather than start a new thread, I am going to add this set up here... seems ok.
SO.........
what the h*ll is this mess called? I have never seen that before. Looks like enough downforce in front ehhh?
comments ? I am giving it my "ugly" award
