Suspected cause

The advent of the traffic cameras is probably a stronger reason that the legislature would opt to keep in the current law than anything else....because it's tied to revenue generation and show me any city or county that doesn't look for any means to generate revenue.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know there is no topic related content, but should concern every that lives in California. I am not sure how this would really work to ge tthe law changed, but it's worth a try. This link was posted on a Ferrari forum. http://www.petitiononline.com/caplate/petition.html

POST 2Original post

I've signed a petition like that back in 2000. Nothing has happened since.

POST 3Original post

That site has had some successes in the past, but you can't fight "progress." In this case, photo radar is here, and it requires a front plate in order to know where to send the bill. That said, none of my 4 cars has a front plate. They are a lot more strict in LA than OC; I once got a ticket while parked at LAX, that was joyful.

POST 4Original post

I received a ticket while parked in the UCLA medical Center parking garage.... Gee that was the big bust of the day..

POST 5Original post

Honestly, when you look at the language of the petition, it sound like they're really grasping for reasons to support the abolition of the front plate. The arguments almost sound hollow and are more geared towards esthetics than something you might consider as meat and potatoes. The part about there being no decline in public safety would be the best argument....but they dont' support the statement that there's "no evidence of a decline" with any stats. The folks who do the bill analyses for these attempts at modifying existing laws would most likely yawn and take out their "duly noted" stamps. The advent of the traffic cameras is probably a stronger reason that the legislature would opt to keep in the current law than anything else....because it's tied to revenue generation and show me any city or county that doesn't look for any means to generate revenue. It would be a very hard obstacle to overcome because the proponents of keeping the law would cite reductions in traffic accidents at intersections, public safety issues...cops would talk about the need to see the plate of the vehicle coming at them...and behind the scenes..... the issue (although not talked about) of almighty revenue generation. That's why you see folks getting tickets when parked at airports and other government lots....even tho many of those tickets might be a "fix-it"...there's probably some revenue in there to process them....plus the fact the ticket writers need something to show they've been working that day for job security.....hell, that's probably tantamount to them discovering the equivalant of a felony! Don't get me wrong....I'm all for it and don't run with a front plate....but there the reality of the situation..

Good point... $10 for a fix-it. I've been charged $25 for city of LA (westwood)... but that's from a meter-maid.

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 6186761

So what little "extra" did you get from the meter-maid for the additional $15?

POST 10Original post

That's all I needed to know...front plate coming off!

I have no clue why his ticket cost more. I wasn't going to waste a full day calling the courts to find out.

POST 12Original post

I run my plate simply to avoid giving the gestapo another reason to pull me over. I merely revised the usual mounting position so as not to have holes in the painted area.
