Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Many years ago I changed a muffler in my driveway when the temp was in the mid 20s.

by this time next year i could be running straight pipes.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i was going to install my mk1 modded mufflers today, but it was -8 this morning and it looks like it'll be single digit highs all weekend.
my garage isn't heated, so i decided to let my indy install the mufflers.
okay. mufflers are done and car is home.
nice increase in volume. i'd say 30% estimate is right. no drone in the cabin. it's really nice when the throttle is open and windows are down.
of course now i'm thinking it could be louder. i'll have to look into PSE or fabspeed. i can see why this could turn into a sick addiction. by this time next year i could be running straight pipes.
They may get a little louder in the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye out for some 3.6L mufflers. They ARE louder than the 3.4L mufflers with the MK II mod. I had the same mod done to both 3.4 & 3.6 mufflers and the 3.6L are probably 85% to 90% of PSE sound.
You had THESE mufflers
lol.
Glad you got them on. They are a bit louder, especially on startup. The best part is no loss of low end torque.
That's where I went (for the track anyway). Bought some used fabspeed muffler bypass for cheap here on Rennlist. It's really difficult to find a happy medium in performance and sound. And now that my wife is pregnant, low noise was the deciding factor. Doh!

When it gets a little warmer, we can get together and compare exhaust sounds - I have the 3.6 modded cans in mine.
-8 yesterday, and we are getting 3-6 more inches of snow today too
It was 85 at my house while I was doing my wife's brakes. However, in the evening it quickly plummeted to 65 and I had to go inside to get a sweater. Brrrrr, SoCal winters can be such a bitch when they take you by surprise like that.
Very prudent. Many years ago I changed a muffler in my driveway when the temp was in the mid 20s. Dumbest thing I ever did. It was yet another lesson I learned from the school of hard knocks.
It's unseasonably cold here - single digits earlier this week - for an area whose idea of snow removal (and I'm not joking) is "wait until it melts". (It's generally a very effective method.) My Porsche is my DD and I thus don't bother with winter tires.
I was genuinely concerned about my tires! Thankfully, I have an insulated (though unheated) garage so I was content my tire temp was at least in the upper teens and safe, but aside from the neovo which specifically says <17F will destroy them, when do summer tires start cracking from the cold?
