Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there and good day to all. Havent driven gt3 for like 4 weeks but noticed when starting up it doesnt crank over first time but after 2 seconds it fires up. Also the voltmeter reads between 12/14 so 13 I guess on the guage and reads 12 with just ignition on. Do u think its the battery or the alternator. Thanks in advance. Mike

POST 2Original post

If you have a voltmeter, the measure voltage at the battery while the car is running. Automotive batteries consist of 6 cells in series, each producing 2.1v for a total of around 12.6v. If your voltmeter reads over 13v (13.5v or greater), then the alternator is good. I think if it reads 15v or greater, then that's bad. If you want to check battery, then have somebody measure battery voltage w/ your voltmeter while you start the car. If voltage drops below 10v, then battery is about dead. ///Michael

POST 3Original post

4 weeks is a long time. you should get a batt. tender. i don't think either batt or alternator is bad
