Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I changed the oil as soon as I got it (it had new oil in it, but I wanted to change it anyways and wanted to check the filter for metal), new serp belt and put a K&N CAI on.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have been lurking for quite awhile now. Had a lot of different cars over my years - first German car was last year, a full Dinan 740i. Got the bug and finally found what I was happy with. 99 C2, 48K miles, good history, 2 local owners. Has all leather and supple leather pkg and is in great shape in and out. I have records from 30K up...working on getting the prior records. From decoding the engine serial #, it still has the original motor and it runs great. I'm still learning a lot and hope to be able to contribute as time goes on. I am going to pull a wheel but can anyone tell me what wheels these are just from the pictures? And what brand rear spoiler is this?

POST 4Original post

Welcome, congrats, 48K miles is quite low for a 12 y/ o Pcar.. So you should start racking up some miles right away! The wheels appear to be Speedlines, or they could be replicas. IMO, the wing definitely needs to be re-evaluated... Unless you plan to maybe add to it to make it look like the total package.....as it looks now, the wing overpowers the rest of the car. How's the suspension, exhaust? You may want to search into those mods first before going into any appearance mods. GL, & ride on....

POST 6Original post

looks like a gamballa or replica wing. It kinda takes away from the looks of the car IMO. Welcome!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I do agree on the spoiler, although has grown on me a little. I have the factory rear lid and plan on putting it on soon to at least see what I like best. I am also looking for a set of factory 18" twist rims. Car has been maintained well - I know low miles and it made me nervous considering IMS issues with 99's, but it has had very frequent oil changes. New tires all around and new exp tank. I changed the oil as soon as I got it (it had new oil in it, but I wanted to change it anyways and wanted to check the filter for metal), new serp belt and put a K&N CAI on. I knew someone that had one on their Pcar and I really like the sound change. It does have some form of exhaust - I haven't figured it out yet. Definitely sounds different, but the mufflers have P part #'s on them.

POST 8Original post

It looks really nice. The paint looks real clean. I do not normally like spoilers but I actually like that one. The wheels look fine to me. Congrats on your purchase.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, it is extremely clean. Inside and out, underneath, everywhere. I would bet it has rarely seen any weather. I like the spoiler overall, I think it looks the best from the back. One thing I do like about it though is that it pulls air in through the sides, which I think benefits air intake and cooling by moving air through the compartment.

A large spoiler always looks best from behind...

POST 13Original post

I like your wheels and your new Porsche looks to be in great condition. My '99 has just under 56k miles. Good that you have a choice with your rear spoiler. welcome to Rennlist. My mother was from KC, went there on a train as a little kid many years ago.

True words...

POST 16Original post

Congrats, but I think I'll agree with the others and say the rear wing does not fit in with the rest of the car... Enjoy the new toy

POST 17Original post

Congrats!!! I kinda like the wheels. Looks good with the silver. The wing? Not so much, IMO. But it goes without saying that my opinion matters little. Go with what works for you. Enjoy!

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone. I also discovered my first oil leak yesterday. Leaking on the left front side of the motor - appears to be from the AOS area but I haven't pinpointed it for sure. I am debating either taking it in and having the IMS upgraded just for inner peace. While there it would be getting a new clutch and AOS then, just because. Being handy, I have also though about just pulling the tranny myself but I don't like getting into timing issues and f'ing something up while doing the IMS.

POST 21Original post

spent all that money in the wing and left the amberlamps. Im on the fence with the wing. I think it would grow on me. I am sure it is a lot more impressive in person. Dare to be different!

POST 22Original post

That wing looks waaay to overpowering without an aero front bumper and side skirts. You may want to go back to the stock wing until you can put together a more harmonious body kit. As you may know, the Porsche MK1 Aero Kit is one of the most desirable looking (and functionally balanced) body kit's for your car...

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will get around to making some changes. Right now the time I have had has been used to make sure all is well mechanically.....and just enjoying it!!!!

POST 24Original post

welcome...... enough ragging on the wing, let the guy enjoy his new ride! looks great

POST 25Original post

^^^ +1, Enjoy the ride!.... for a quick aero balancing, put a mk2 gt3 chin spoiler on the front. It will help from the floaty feel. Ok Enough....enjoy the mods!

POST 26Original post

Welcome! Nice car. Jeez, give the guy a break about the wing, he just got here!
