Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I noticed my headlight covers were starting to get a slight yellow tint, and it did clean off fairly well with a series of grits going from 400-1500gt, and a final hand polish with some cerium oxide I have for glass polishing.
Leading evidence: 'Use 3m trizact foam discs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'uv damage based' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean off fairly well' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I used 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, 5000, then Meguiar’s Plast-X polish.

But I used the Sylvania kit (which I got from Amazon for about $20) on my niece's 14 year old Honda Accord which was always left outside in the Arizona sun.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I noticed my headlight covers were starting to get a slight yellow tint, and it did clean off fairly well with a series of grits going from 400-1500gt, and a final hand polish with some cerium oxide I have for glass polishing. Better, but not the 'like new' I was hoping for.
So, what do people here do to get their front lenses back to new clear? (This doesn't happen to the rear lenses, so I suspect UV damage based on how and where it's parked during the day.)
Deserion's excellent method works as I do similar. All of what you need is available here including kits, as well as maintenance polish/repellents:
Aircraft Spruce & Specialty Canopy Cleaners
Bear in mind that aggressively removing the haze can remove the original coatings on the lens meaning you will need to repeat the process every once in a while. Try to use the least aggressive approach as needed. Once you have cleaned, I like 210, Plexus and AVL cleaner and polishes as maintenance as they leave a temporary protective coating making bug streaks, etc. easier to remove.
Not an auto application, but my results attempting to stretch the service life out of some landing light lenses that were unavailable new for a while:
FWIW 3M sells a "Ballistic" window film thats extremely tough and clear and has full UV resistance.
You can try customer service number for technical help, to pic the exact thing you want. They have a decent web page.
THey can tell you the temperature tolerances for al their stuff..
A package off Amazon. It included a foam pad between the sanding disc and the drill adapter pad. My thought process was that it would better follow the contours and not concentrate pressure unevenly.
I then applied Xpel Ultimate Plus film to protect the lens from road debris and UV damage.
I don't have this problem on my 996 which is always garaged. But I used the Sylvania kit (which I got from Amazon for about $20) on my niece's 14 year old Honda Accord which was always left outside in the Arizona sun.
The results were simply amazing. It took me under two hours and the headlights look like new now.
I used the Koch Chemie Headlight Polish Set on several cars recently.
Its a kit that includes 1,000, 2,0000 and 4,000 grit for wet sanding. Done by hand with the included Velcro block. 2 polishes, heavy and fine cut with corresponding 3 pads. You can probably apply by hand but I used a DA.
I followed all up with
Meguiar's Keep Clear headlight coating spray.
