Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Yup, there is a TSB out that instructs the Porsche tech to replace the 4 engine block bolts and 3 IMS flange bolts with a new coated bolt type (blue in colour) at the same time they replace the RMS and/or the IMS.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As some may know car was in shop after 2 rms failures. Service mgr, wanted to get a new engine from Germany. Yesterday Porsche Middle East Tech guy comes in and says no to new engine and instructs service manager to change seal and close engine and keep it running for a while. Lo and behold apparently the leak is not from the seal but from a bolt somewhere near the intermediate seal! This only became apparent after they closed up the cranckase and cleaned up the area then observed as car was running. Because with the crankshaft measuring tool, my engine is coencentric and within tolerances.
They are either going to loctite the bolt or fit a new one, cause the oil was leaking through the threadbolts. If this is true and she don't leak no more this sounds great. And could it be possible that all these rms failures are not really rms failures but leaky bolts?
Your thoughts pls.
Yup, there is a TSB out that instructs the Porsche tech to replace the 4 engine block bolts and 3 IMS flange bolts with a new coated bolt type (blue in colour) at the same time they replace the RMS and/or the IMS. Just had these fitted to my engine.
Turns out my problem bolt is the one in the middle of the 3 ims flange bolts, its the ims orientation bolt.
All 7 of the other bolts are changed on my car as well as per the TSB
Scouser: Do you know which TSB reference# this is (i.e. bolt replacement). My car's engine is being fitted with a new oil separator this week (original one was leaky), and they'll drop the engine to do this. I want to make sure that while it's out, they check the current bolts, and if they are not the "blue" type I'll ask them to replace them.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

Replacing the bolts for the sake of it may not be a good idea. If your car hasn't got a leak then I would not mess with them. Your within warranty so if you get a leak in future your covered anyway.
Has anyone thought of trying to get the RMS situation addressed in some of the major Automotive publications. I'm would think it would get Porsche's attention if an article showed up in Autoweek or R&T. I'm like a lot of you. When my warranty is up the car's gone.

Why would a major pub jeopardize ad revenue? European Car did express a caveat on its C4S when it needed a new engine. MT dismissed a RMS as little more than an oil change since it was a warranty repair.
