Not necessarily, if that's what it is and has been fixed under warranty, it may never be a problem again. The only time porsche replaces the motors is after three repairs or if it is grossly out of spec. I'd insist on a warranty and a price break. If you did have to pay out of pocket, it's around 800$ from a dealer and 600$ from an independent shop. Check out RMS threads here recently. Chris

RMS can and has happened multiple times on the same engine, and even on subsequent replacement engines for some unlucky people. it is an inescapable fact that plagues the M96 and M97 but it certainly isnt the end of the world, nor should it be a serious resason to deter someone from buying an M96 engined car. it can happen, but its not that expensive of a fix. porsche has been generally good at goodwilling the repair, engine replacements, etc. its their subtle way of acknowledging that the engine is flawed without coming out and saying it.

It was $91000+ when it was new. Its got the mirage beige color, and natural gray interior. I am trying to negotiate a better deal. Its a certified used car. How much do you think I should get the car for? Couldn't sleep well for a few days, too excited thinking about the car
