Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The other thing is that when we checked the 993 and gt3 seal they where larger in dia so I would have to check into that alittle more I just do not see how it will seal.
Leading evidence: 'Check into' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check into' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

As a note the original 997 seal failed after 2 hours run time but was installed at improper depth.

From what I have read even passing the Go-No-Go gauge test they still can leak.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This is not to start the black whole issue again just that I need to have mine done shortly they are awaiting new installation tool. As a note the original 997 seal failed after 2 hours run time but was installed at improper depth.
Last one should have read.
Make my own using (2) 997 seals making (1) seal with 2 lips for sealing.
If you are having to change this multiple times, I would be very suspicious that there is something else wrong. Have you checked to make sure that the seal bore centerline is concentric with the crankshaft centerline?
I have heard that Porsche has a tool to perform this measurement.
That certainly "was" the case. However, with the redesigned seal this doesn't seem to happen very much any more (according to my dealer friend). If you are having it leak over and over again after installing the new seal more than once I would suspect that the seal is not being seated properly (are you using the Porsche tool?) or you have some other additional issues.
More detail would be helpful.
- How many seals have you gone though?
- Which seals have you tried in the past?
- Who did the installation?
- Did they use the tool?
- Have you checked to see if your bore is concentric?
If this is the first leak, why not just use the 997 seal. From what I have heard this seal almost always solves the leak now (unless other problems exist).
I never drove the car prior so do not know if it was leaking previously although there were no signs of leakage. Prior to engine install after mod's I had my independant tech install the newest 997 seal and all the IMS updated bolts/seal and case bolts where done by me and this being my first seal leak it happen with about 2 hours runtime. He installed using the older tool which could be the problem I am having now. At presant he ordered the new tool and should be hear shortly thus my rush to arrive at a decision. Even if a Go-No-Go gauge is used and is concentric does not mean it will not leak. "Scouser" is on his 8th seal and is not leaking using the gt3 seal so how many times is enough to try something different?
Thanks for the help everyone it has helped sway me to using a new 997 seal with proper tool. Me and the shop have agreed to install the seal and run with the tranny "out" with just the flywheel and check for leaks and go from their. The other thing is that when we checked the 993 and gt3 seal they where larger in dia so I would have to check into that alittle more I just do not see how it will seal. Size is the 996 uses a 85x105x11 and the GT3 Motorsport seal is supposed to be 90x110x12.
