Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
My light came on last week, and it turned out to be a bad oxygen sensor, which was replaced and covered by my extended warranty.
Leading evidence: 'oxygen sensors' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'oxygen sensors' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check gas and oil cap (car off' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

They suggested that it was due to sitting for so long along with the salt air for the boat ride over here from the mainland.

BTW, it has ran perfectly every time I've driven it - even with the light on.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I've gone over everything myself and there seems to be nothing wrong. Probably a sensor or something? Any ideas? What is usually the cause of this? Anything I should look for?
I'm gone for two more weeks but I guess I'll take it in when I get back home. Damn - I haven't even had the car that long!
Hard to belive, but it is probably no big deal. Make sure gas cap is on tight, you oil cap is on tight and make sure it is not blinking. Blinking very very bad.
There are a 100 reasons for the light to come on. No way to know for sure unless you get the fault code. Most times it will eventually go off if the fault is not detected again.
Yup, you need to get on the network (ODB 2) and see what set the code. I've heard that Autozone will read it for free. Sure you could bring it to the dealer to read the code, but you might get what I believe is an essential tool for any shop these days. on ODB 2 code reader/reset tool. I like the PC version which is simply a cable and a software package. I'm happy with a set up from

I once got a "check engine" (high engine temp), even though I never saw the guage go high and the driving conditions seemed unlikely. Never reoccurred.
Call dealer and ask if you can swing by and just have them run code. It will only take about 5 minutes to hook it up and see what the code is. You can then figure out if it is something that needs addressing any time soon.
Call ahead though so you don't have to wat around. if you just show up out of the blue, you may have to wait longer.
Well I've got it sorted out. There were two codes - one being running too rich for banks 1-3 and the other being running too rich for banks 4-6. The computer was trying to lean it out and having a bit of trouble, so it was an emissions issue. The car was in transit for 8 weeks, then sat for a long time being driven only a few times as I've been gone most of the time since it arrived. They suggested that it was due to sitting for so long along with the salt air for the boat ride over here from the mainland. They reset it and the light hasn't come back on. BTW, it has ran perfectly every time I've driven it - even with the light on. They calc'd the mixture ration at 9% which is ~barely~ out of spec. seems odd that the light would come on at all. Pretty touchy if you ask me.
Thanks again for your input.
