I like the headlights of the 2002 - pres 996s better than the '99 - '01 however I am very leary of changing the identity of my P-car especially when it involves adding new front fenders.

I do like the 997 front so far from the pics.....the real test will be in person!!!!!!!!!
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Since I've now grown tired of the Boxter front end on my 996 I have started the search for a turbo front bumper and litho headlights.
During my searches I have come across facelift kits for upgrading my '99 to a turbo font end with the newer style headlights. The cost is about the same as just adding a turbo style bumper and lithos @ ~$3000.

I know that drasticly altered P-cars become hot rocks that no one will touch and I don't want the ghost of Ferry to curse me with RMS for altering my '99 to an '02.
Any thoughts?
$3k? i just had the front half of my car painted, replaced the litronics, replaced the windshield and no bodywork of any kind. the bill was north of $5.5k what your talking about with paint and labor, would be a lot more than $3k--not worth the cost, imo.
You could go with the old school gt3 front end...will give it a different look. If you don't mind aftermarket, MA Shaw makes a turbo like nose for your 99...
OUCH!! - Those $$$ would make a respectable down payment on the real thing. Then I would get the TT engine and brakes thrown in as an added bonus.
01 Cab NYC - The Marshaw front bumper is most likely where I'm headed. I was just intrigued with these "facelift kits" and why no one seemed to be using them.
Don't do it! Personally, I loved the look of the '02 and newer lights when they came out, but now I actually prefer the original 996 (Boxster) lights. It's weird how tastes can change.
Now I love the lights I've seen on the next generatin Boxster prototypes. They remind me of the Carrera GT.
I know what you mean, Paul. I've grown more fond of the Boxster-esque headlights over the years myself. The '02-'04 headlights look great, but the entire front-end of the '99-'01 looks better than the '02-'04, in my opinion. With the restyled air dam and front fender, the newer 996's front-end resembles an angry catfish to me. I guess I prefer the softer and more sophisticated look.
I don't like the turbo bumper at all.. I think the best looking bumper is the gt3...perfectly balanced...Turbo front is weird with the 2 big round holes........
Just my opinion....
I do like the 997 front so far from the pics.....the real test will be in person!!!!!!!!!

more people don't do it because its a waste of money.
get either the full aerokit 1, which in my opinion, is the best looking aerokit in the world, ever.
or just be done with it and get a 2002.
