Suspected cause
I assumed the gap was due to the shrinking leather pulling away from the cluster....
Leading evidence: 'shrinking leather pulling away' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'shrinking leather pulling away' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just noticed that there is a tiny gap between the instrument panel cluster and the actual dash. This is on the right side where the chrono would go (although I don't have one) - which is right above the air conditioner vents. Basically, the very right side of the instrument panel rides about 1/4" above the dash - letting me see a little of the connecting bracket and part of a wire (or looks like a wire).
I swear that the whole instrument cluster was flush with the dash before, even the right side -> but now, I can see the gap.
Does anyone have this issue? Is this something that can be easily fixed? (I'll try to get a pic up if my description isn't clear.)

Me too, apparently a common problem. Mentioned to the dealer and they just kind of shruged their shoulders and thought that's the way it is supposed to be. Not that annoying to me but I am aware of the "problem".
Right here as well. In fact, I started a thread on it last summer. The dealer took out the dash and refitted to no avail. I tried several times myself, but based on where the tabs catch the brackets, it's impossible to have the instrument cluster panel sit flush against the dash. I'm trying not to think about it, but am rather disappointed at the workmanship.
workmanship in a Porsche??? I didn't think of it too much when I looked for one, but the cars are pretty ****ty inside!! Even the new 997's aren't that great! Just got my wife an X5 and everything feels solid and well build....
don't get me wrong I love
my Porsche and have put all the mod's in to make it feel a little better..but seriously for a 100K car..you might expect a little more.
I hope my P didn't hear me, because I don't want it to break down on me, because I spoke bad about it!!!
I've always assumed it was supposed to look like that, as there is no play in the piece in my car. Plus it doesn't bother me.
Also, Nicolaasdb: you have good taste! I have a black + black + black Cab and just picked up an X5 for the wife. I've been really impressed with the BMW.

Now you did it. You depressed your car. I hope you don't expect to get the same performance from her that you did prior to the negative post. An apology is in order.
I bought the wife an X5 before I got my pcar... Ladies first.... I also have a gap. I have the full leather and there is some sun damage on the dash/intrument cluster cover. I assumed the gap was due to the shrinking leather pulling away from the cluster.... I am scheduled to have it repaired this summer.. looks like there is the possibility that the gap won't disappear!
