Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported cause
Be aware that on my RHD car the wiring traced to the rear LEFT side bulb.
Leading evidence: 'rear left side bulb' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'rear left side bulb' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Run even if i take out the key' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Althought the thoughtful folks at Wilhelmy offer the "don't remove the seat" method as an alternative, I found it to be extremely difficult to accomplish and still be able to use care in dealing with the 2 many-pinned plugs that must be inserted while straining to see & reach under the seat.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i added the remote top the other day. worked fine for a week.
tonight, i started the car, everything is fine.
until i backed out from driveway, found the red was flashing on the dash, so i tried to turn off the engine. can't do it!!!!!!
engine still running even if i take out the key!
please help!!
can't i shut down the engine somehow? without damage the car?
i don't want to drive around whole night!
i told to smarttop guy just now.
unplug the control module, and shut off the car.
took out the remote top, put everything back in, the car is making a big sound, not honk, not arm, other strange sound, had to unplug everything again.
it's 12:50AM now, will have to deal with this tomorrow.
just hope the control module is not fried. i did smell the remotetop like elec. shortcut smell.
put everything back, the car is normal now. it's idling in my drive way now.
remotetop guy is great, i could get hold of him 11PM friday night! great customer service!!
I had this exact same problem you describe however in my case the engine would stop if I took my foot off the footbrake. It turned out to be, would you believe, a rear (left side) stop lamp. The internal ground (3rd central prong) had failed and for some reason this left the circuit open in the ignition. I found this by spending several hours with a meter and the circuit diagram. Eventually traced it to the bulb which I didnt believe at first, but I still have the bulb and can reproduce the problem easily.
Be aware that on my RHD car the wiring traced to the rear LEFT side bulb. I am not sure if this is mirrored on a LFD car.
my case is more scary. couldn't shut off engine no matter what! took out the key, foot off gas. etc. and it's a tip. i can't stall it as someone suggested.
this is the details for this morning:
i put all wires back to the control unit, car works fine.
then when i tried to put it back, the same sound came again. it's not the horn, not the arm sound either, and the control unit shaking and making some kind of elec. sound as well. i disconnected it right away.
and when i tried it again, everything is fine. i put it back to under the seat. drive out for 45 minutes.
since you mentioned, it's very possible i bented some groud wire when i installing the remote top. i didn't take out my seat. so i had to touch a few wires under the seat.
The internal ground (3rd central prong), is it under the driver-seat?
it will be great if you can post some pic. so i know what i need to look for.
This should be a cautionary tale, whether or not your Remote Top turns out to be the issue.
Althought the thoughtful folks at Wilhelmy offer the "don't remove the seat" method as an alternative, I found it to be extremely difficult to accomplish and still be able to use care in dealing with the 2 many-pinned plugs that must be inserted while straining to see & reach under the seat.
I strongly urge that anyone installing the Remote Top acquire a 12mm torx socket and take the very quick step of removing the 4 seat rail bolts and simply leaning the drivers seat backward. That way, it is a snap to complete the install while given proper caution and attention to these delicate plugs / pins.
you just have to follow the procedures....first put the seat up and all the way back....undo the screw infront...then put the chair all the way forward and undo the wires as described....I had to do it twice because the remote key...box was defective.......you just have to be very careful!!!
no problem for me.
i did it so many times, i think i can do the install in 10 minutes without removing the seats now.
how did u find your remotetop is defective?
This statement seems not a little ironic, since you have a car you can't turn off and earlier posted:
"since you mentioned, it's very possible i bented some groud wire when i installing the remote top. i didn't take out my seat. so i had to touch a few wires under the seat."
