Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
If it changes dramatically then you may have to resolve the issue.
Leading evidence: 'Replace dramatically' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace dramatically' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I installed the short shifter last night and it was a pretty easy job. The only problem I had was that one of the tab's that matches up with the linear groove on the bushings would not keep the bushing from spinning around. (step 48 in the installation instructions) I think when I tightened down the jam nut too much after it was in, it turned the whole bushing and bent the tab.
Does anyone know if this is going to be a problem? the bushing is in there secure, it won;t spin around with finger pressure, but will with a wrench.
After the install, I did drive it around, and what a different feel to the shifting. It felt strange not having such a long motion in each shift. Very smooth.

That's ^ a good one!
I went to the B& M site and looked at their latest instructions and step 48 is about putting the front lower console sides back on the car. Below is the link to the B&M PDF instructions. Please let me know which step number (in the instructions below) you are asking about, and I'll see if I can help answer your question.

OK, I understand what happened. I don't think that will be a problem for you, but only time will tell. You might want to be aware of the "feel" and the anount of "play" in the shifter. If it changes dramatically then you may have to resolve the issue.
I have the same problem where the bushing will spin, but I don't think there will be any adverse effects. I had it in for a few months now and haven't noticed anything to do with that.
thanks for both of your responses. I guess I will just wait and see. A couple of trips so far in the P-car with the new shifter and it is feeling better all the time. it felt different at first, going from the "stock" shifter to the B&M, but now feels waht it should feel like.
thanks again.
