Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just got a 02 C2 Cab, need some idea what to do with the hardtop. I have a 3 car garage but dont want to leave the top on the floor (takes up too much floor space). Is there some kind of ceiling hoist system I can buy? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. TIA Pete

POST 2Original post

I bought my 996 Cabriolet from a Porsche/Audi/Mercedes/Aston Martin dealership. The dealer hooked me up with a great price on a Mercedes SL hardtop rack. I actually prefer its design to the Porsche rack. I just bought a hardtop dust cover and I was set.

Thanks guys, I will look for the rack Pete

POST 5Original post

I've got an exercise room in the basement and my hardtop fits up nicely against the wall. I have a very nice heavy flannel cover that I put on it first to keep it clean and scratch free.

POST 6Original post

I just installed the EZ Hoist(eztop.com). Hoists the hardtop off the car and stores hanging(of course in a hardtop cover). The company was a pleasure to deal with and will give you a discount for mentioning Rennlist/Porsche web forum. looked into the other Hoist system and this, while not the cheapest, seemed to be the best. The winch works on a one ne ratio in both the lift a lower mode so you do not have to worry about the top falling. Attach your drill to the winch and now its electric. I did add several additional hanging support lines for additional stability, makes the top less likely to twist. I highly recommend!! Install was fairly simple.

POST 7Original post

I bought a wall mounted rack that is made by Porsche, but I don't have the part number. Works great and gets the top up and out of the way. Saves more space than the rack with wheels.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info. I found this hoist on Ebay for about $200, what do you all think? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...QQcmdZViewItem Can't wait to take the hardtop off.....I may just have to leave it in one of my guest rooms for now.. Pete

POST 9Original post

POST 11Original post

Check out this thread ( https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/260970-hard-top-storage.html ). I have the Porsche wall mounted rack (part #000.044.000.76).

Coolwoo, Be careful. I did alot of homework on the hoists. The one you saw on ebay(also available through performance products), allows the top to rest on the molding/weather stripping. I am not sure this is best for the top. Once again i selected the eztop because it supports from the inside of the top, minimal prseeure on weather stripping. Also, the winch from eztop is much more impressive.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
