Well, first off if you're doing 70 in NC you have to be in the right, because they use the left lane for passing or doing like 80+ (not this person of course, they seem like they were just trying to make you race).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was cited for reckless driving yesterday while traveling north on 77 yesterday afternoon. I was traveling in the left lane at the speed of traffic when a white BMW 6-series flew up on my tail. She sat there a few feet off my bumper at ~70 mph. When this happens, I generally speed up to put some distance between the two of us and go on with life. So I change lanes and sped up, but she changed with me and stayed right on my tail. I changed lanes back to the left lane and slowed back down for traffic. During the lane changes I was definitely exceeding the speed limit. After getting back over I saw the blue lights behind the BMW, but when she moved over the cop pulled me over. I calmly explained the situation, and the police officer was obviously not interested in excuses. I didn't receive a speeding ticket but it looks like he suggested I was traveling ~85mph (he didn't clock me) in a 65 zone.
Any lawyers in the house with advice?
Any other suggestions?
I'm required to appear in court in late June for the matter.
Thanks for any tips,
Shawn
PS--I'm a South Carolina resident if that matters.
Well, first off if you're doing 70 in NC you have to be in the right, because they use the left lane for passing or doing like 80+ (not this person of course, they seem like they were just trying to make you race). Since you got a ticket in NC, you will be getting ads in the mail from lawyers, pick a good one and he'll take care of it.
Don't know about NC but reckless driving driving is a misdemeanor in Cal, entitling you to a jury trial. Have someone (atty or paralegal) research what's is required to prove reckless driving in NC. If your driving it fall within the "gray" zone of fitting into the definition, plead not guilty and ask for a jury trial. There is a strong chance the DA will offer you something less (i.e. speeding) to settle the case. If so, you can take it on condition of attending traffic school.
