Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I see their ad in Panorama every month and wonder if anyone uses them and, if so, what they think. I had some flatspotting/belt issues with summer tire storage and am thinking of ordering the cradles. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Tire cradles are normally used for cars being stored, wheels on the car, usually winter storage. For (summer) tire/wheel storage, you can also use the wall mounted tire storage devices sold by Griots Garage. http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=92300 Simply wash your wheels thouroughly (also a good time to make sure you didn't throw a wheel weight), wax them a couple of times, overinflate the tires, apply some tire dressing (303 protectant or similar) and store them on the wall brackets. You can also store them lying flat, just put some cardboard/plywood between the wheels to prevent scratching. It's also a good idea to cover the wheels/tires with dark bags to prevent UV degredation of the rubber...and keep them away from ozone generators (electric motors, electronic air cleaners, etc)

POST 3Original post

My research tells me that modern tires are not prone to flat-spotting, thus tire cradles aren't required. I've stored my cars for months at a time on a cold concrete floor at normal tire pressure with no ill-effects.
