Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I don't know about the X51 (too lazy to check PET), but I doubt it.
Leading evidence: 'Check pet)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check pet)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

But unfortuneately unless you have your motor tweaked to perfection and running a totally programmed ECU, with custom fuel and ignition maps and some decent cams, you will not get gains like this.

I have dealt with this type of mod before and yes it is true if you were using an 18guage intake plennum on a stock engine and switched to this you would gain 22whp.

I do know for a fact that 987s use a flap in the intake pipe which separates the two cylinder banks.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone using this??? Latest adds in Excellence claim 22 RWHP gains on a NA 997. Performance Products and DPS Motorsports both sell and advertise them.

I've tried the 996TT one out before but that was _with_ a larger throttle body so it's hard to say. 22hp sure is a lot... hopefully some folks on here have already confirmed it?
I'd love for someone to take a good shot at explaining how this is 'supposed' to add 22bhp at the rear wheel. After looking at the photo in detail, I can't for the life of me understand where the restriction currently lies in the car that this product apparently undoes.
I do not think this will give you 2 HP , never mind 22, if it gave even 8 I would pay 2,000 for that, its not on my car for a reason , it just could not work..unless it has a 20 HP shot of NOS that goes with it
I really hate unqualified claims on HP. One of my pet peevs. Automotion sells a catalog full of that stuff. Some even have dyno sheets as evidence. I don't for a second trust vendors that put out outrageous HP claims.
itradem, your car looks like mine, you must have good taste! I'm switching to RS GT's this week, I think. I've also been debating the cf hood, lightweight battery, and some other crap along with the part mentioned above. I'm skeptical, must admit, but the dps said they'd refund if I didn't like it. hmmmmmmmmmm.
This reminds me of phlegm... you know, the stuff you cough up when you have a bad chest cold. It's sad that some suckers will "cough up" $850 for this!
Dallas,
The color may be the only thing not making our cars identical twins... lol...
So DPS will give you a trial??? That would be interesting to at least give it a shot to report back to the list... I am still very skeptical myself... but am also a mod junkie, so go figure why this contraption peaks my interest...

But unfortuneately unless you have your motor tweaked to perfection and running a totally programmed ECU, with custom fuel and ignition maps and some decent cams, you will not get gains like this. I would say you could expect somewhere around 8-10 peak hp somewhere above 5000rpm. A K&N would outrightly do more for you than this.
The key here is what if you are like Dallas and I??? We are both running on aftermarket intakes, headers, exhausts, and GIAC tuning... Will this "mod" add anything additional???
I would think that the Porsche engineers would have designed their plenum this way if it really that efficient. The chief mechanic for Race Prep Motors(RPM) which races in Rolex, Lemans and Grand Am is a close friend of mine. His team played with different intake, exhaust piping, air box setup while hooked up on the dyno. They could barely extract 4 HP. He said the only way you could bump up that power is remap the ECU.
ditto on that, my car seemed slower until the computer was updated. Now the car is leaps and bounds quicker than any other 911's I've encountered barring the TT.
I don't know about the X51 (too lazy to check PET), but I doubt it. What the "Power Intake Plenum" looks like to me is someone took the exact stock part (less than 100 bucks) and glued in a piece of aluminum and siliconed it in place. All for the low, low price of $1K. Considering heat cycles and that the intake plumbing usually is covered with a gas/oil film, I wonder how long it takes before the glue separates and a chunk goes down an intake and blows your motor.
I do know for a fact that 987s use a flap in the intake pipe which separates the two cylinder banks. At low RPM, the flap is closed so the left/right banks are separated. This helps low-end torque. At high RPM, though, when closed this robs I estimate about 10 to 15 HP off the top end. Like the other manifold resonance tube, though, under ECU control, they both open at high RPM (straight through) as part of the resonance tuning between the two banks.
I wouldn't touch this product with a 10 foot pole if it were $100. I'm not a betting man, otherwise I'd bet it lost HP off the top end. I don't know where they got their numbers from, but I would guess they got the dyno sheets backwards.
Arenared, my sentiments exactly. Your speculation that the adhesive for the aluminum lining would come undone is very worrisome. This product probably does about as much for performance as a sugar pill does for illness.
But, I'd love to hear people's experiences with them. I'd also like to meet them in order to gauge their interest in this nifty Brooklyn Bridge that's for sale.
