Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I know I have read threads from people who have installed both.

But, I know that plenty of people on the forum have used the B&M with great success.

Suggestion
If I had a car that was still under warranty I would only use the OEM SSK just to avoid problems, even though it's the same part, the price delta is minimal.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

THe OEM short shift kit could be the best mod that I have ever put on a vehicle, car, motorcycle or otherwise. After a bit more than a month, it is smoother still, has never had problems going into gear and just feels tight. Indeed, I really don't find it much harder at all to put the car into gear so anyone who is worried about the added force shouldn't worry about it.
Now here's a cool update: I drove my father's C4S the other day. His car has the original stock shifter and I can tell you completely that I will NEVER go back to it. NOt only is the shift length ridiculously noticeable (read, longer) but it feels mushy and notchy all at the same time. I really don't feel like I have the same level of control and precision present in the SSK. Driving his car MORE than convinced me that the SSK is the FIRST mod that Pcar drivers should do on picking up their car.
That's 2 thumbs up from me!
Ed,
I've got the same car as u, what made u go with the OEM over B&M? I'm lookin to pick one up when the weather here in NYC gets better, though i must admit we've had a VERY mild winter thus far!
thanks,
The newest version of the OEM SSK was just marginally more (in my books) and it comes in a plastic/polyeurathane housing that makes installation and shifter adjustment a no brainer. I just figured that smoothness and precision wasn't worth hassling with. But, I know that plenty of people on the forum have used the B&M with great success. In the end, my dealer gave me such a great price on the OEM that I couldn't resist.
Can you say how good? I hate to pry but the B&M is about $200 and the OEM with housing as far as I know is about $500. Big difference for an extra 20 minutes effort in my book. Thanks, and I understand if you do not wish to disclose this as it is your personal business.
Bill
OEM takes care of the warranty issue and it is an undermount as well...i put the OEM in mine...love it and peace of mind no warranty issues...worth the extra few bucks.....B&M is not an undermount....
Don't know about the factory SSK, but I bought my in-car B&M from Vivid Racing for $210.00 on a special. However, if you search Ebay I have seen both the undercar in the range of $100.00-$150.00 and the in car under $200.00 in the last week or so. B&M also makes a combination in-car and undercar, that is described as for racing only. I know I have read threads from people who have installed both.
I had a B&M in my o2 and a Schnell in my 04. Same stuff=all good. In the cold they both feel stiff. Great day in upper NE for a drive. Man, that Santa.............he is a smart guy!!
$150 plus shipping on ebay. Even though the shipping charges are ridiculous, its still under $200. This is a great price for a B&M ssk! No, I dont know the seller.

The OEM SSK is an "in car" or in the console shifter. The "undercar" or transmission mounted items are NOT OEM parts.
If I had a car that was still under warranty I would only use the OEM SSK just to avoid problems, even though it's the same part, the price delta is minimal. A new transmission is $$$$$$$$.
