Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Nothing screams ACCIDENT like a replaced hood with either missing or re-applied stickers!
Leading evidence: 'Replace hood' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace hood' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Unfortunately it was with the front nose of the C2!
I believe that the damage is only superficial but the nose panel is done for sure, everything else seems straight.
Two questions for the omniscient 911 gods of the forum;
1. If it is superficial, I would prefer to not have it go on the carfax. In order to accomplish this, it probably should not go thru the car insurance, correct? What determines what goes on the fax and what doesnt?
2. I am leaning towards buying the turbo look front end as opposed to the OEM (MY99) replacement. Any recommendations on these are good solutions, ie do they fit well, chip resilient...
Thanks for your help.
Food for thought (from
CarFAX
):
1. CARFAX receives information on accidents in most states when an official police report is filed. The level of detail in the accident record varies by state depending on the state's accident report requirements. CARFAX recommends you obtain a vehicle inspection from your dealer or an independent mechanic for any car involved in an accident.
2. When the owner discloses to a DMV or other CARFAX source that the vehicle sustained damage. The extent of damage can range from minor to severe. CARFAX recommends you have this vehicle inspected.
To answer your first question, I don't know whether the turbo look bumper will fit on your car (MY99) because of the differing headlight assembly. However, you can consider the aero kit I which looks phenomenal (and not just because I have it). Also, there are a ton of aftermarket bumpers to choose from. All you need to do is a run a quick search in the 996 forum and you will be delighted and probably overwhelmed. Good luck.
Oh yeah, one last thing: how in the name of all things holy did you hit a deer and only damage the front bumper? You are one lucky SOB.
I still dont know how he didnt go up on the hood. I slid enough in braking that I only really pushed him. Enough to break several of his legs though. He wasnt really all that big, just a young buck.
I really like the aero kit but I thought the Turbo look was a little more bold. To answer your ? nycebo, to fit the MY99 it is not an OEM, just the OEM look in order to accomodate the lights. Thanks for all the insight.
Great that your hood is OK. Nothing screams ACCIDENT like a replaced hood with either missing or re-applied stickers!
Sure you want to go the insurance route? I think the bumper is around $1k, so that plus paint you're proabably looking at $1500 to $1750. That's the horrible "should I or shouldn't I" range for insurance claims.

The CarFax question is interesting. I had a Acura Integra that I bought new and it was involved in 2 accidents inwhich both required significant body work. Both accidents had police reports and significant insurance claims filed. When I went to sell this car neither incident showed up on the CarFax (I disclosed it to the buyer though).
