Since an "oil seal" is being replaced, the oil will probably be drained before any work takes place..

They are replacing the seal between the engine and tranny (RMS?) Anyway, my question is do they have to replace the oil when doing this or is the oil pan area unaffected?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I took it in because of an oil leak. They are replacing the seal between the engine and tranny (RMS?) Anyway, my question is do they have to replace the oil when doing this or is the oil pan area unaffected?

POST 2Original post

No they do not change the oil, they will top it up if needed

POST 4Original post

What dealer do you use? I use POA and had my RMS seal replaced at 14K. No issues since and I'm at 18K. No need to replace the oil...in my case, the leak was barely visible on the floor and don't think much escaped.

POST 5Original post

Since an "oil seal" is being replaced, the oil will probably be drained before any work takes place..

POST 7Original post

Very little oil is lost when replacing the RMS. The oil is only present in this area of the engine when you are burning gas. There will be some residual oil that will drain out when the seal is removed, just a little bit.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was just hoping for a free oil change is all..
