Gentlemen,
The 951 is off to a new home soon and the time has come to join the ranks of the 996 owners and finally have my childhood coveted Porsche 911.
I have been watching the classifieds and ebay for months and know what I am looking for however a little feedback would be appreciated. Below are two links to a couple of cars on ebay in which I am very interested.
The Cars:
The 01 with 53k miles has the overall look I prefer (primarily the black wheels with chrome lips). It has many cosmetic upgrades but has not had any major service ie, clutch rear main seal though he says it does not leak and the clutch is strong. I can do without all the CF and stereo upgrades but the car is very clean, has aero package, suspension and particularly the wheels I really like. The car has been very well maintained.

The 99 with 41k miles does have the aero package however it is two years older and does not have the preferred wheels. The clutch and the rear main have been replaced which is not too be ignored as well as a variety of other upgrades. This car belongs to a fellow Rennlister and has been very well maintained (from the pics and video I couldn't see a single rock chip on the front end).

So the question is, which is the smarter buy? Is there anything glaringly obvious I am should be considering of either of the cars? Of the smarter buy, what $$$ would you offer the seller.
Thanks in advance.
the big diff is that 01 is egas/PSM and 99 is cable throttle/TC... I would go with the 01 since it the last of the 3.4 and has all the latest fixes... but they both look like a well sorted p-car. BTW, the 01 is def worth more $$$ as for the options are concerned. GL and keep us posted. PPI is a must.
Or if you wanted one that's not riced out, my 99 with a re-man motor is also for sale and for less money!
I've owned a bunch of 951s also. The 996's a step up as far as out of the box performance goes. You'll enjoy it/them.
The '01 is a better value. Don't discount the stereo if you enjoy such stuff. It adds very little value for the seller, but would be extremely expensive to replicate. The CF is a bit much. Would rather see more standard plastic on the dash and CF door sills (very nice, had 'em on my car).
Anything under the asking price on the '01 seems like a good value to me.
