Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There's at least a couple of members on 6speed who's done that mod and there are threads with lots of pics if you want to check it out for yourself. One of them (jstrat) turned out pretty good in my opinion.
Here's a thread with pics of his car after completion of the mods, if you search his threads, there's one with info on the side vents when he was having it installed.
Link HERE
He has good taste in mods. You gotta be careful how you do it though, there is another one with the same side vent mod that didn't turn out as well. You could end up making it look cheap and tacky, there's no turning back, not that you can "uninstall" it.
I don't even like the way the OEM intakes look on an actual turbo. I think they detract from the lines of the vehicle. Personally, I think this is one of the main reasons that I like the looks of the C4S better than the looks of the turbo.
I wouldn't ever, ever do this to a NB 996, or to a C4S.
The reason I dont like 6speed.........all about the looks sometimes. Dont get me wrong, there are a lot of supercharged 996's but I hate the "sweet", "cool", "gnarley", and "that's dope" stuff you read.
And put your seatback up to a proper angle! And take off that damn knit cap! And if you can't keep your pants up I'll get a staple gun and fix that for you!
Get off my lawn or I'll get the hose!
Jeez...some of you guys. It's all right to not like someone's car coz' they modded it bad, or not to your taste. But being such haters yourselves, don't say any better about you at all. I don't mod my cars that way, however, I do enjoy and appreciate others who do. That's what makes it interesting for car enthusiasts like us. Unfortunately, some have different tastes and do not produce results that please everybody's eyes.
I frequent several Porsche sites, mostly here, and occasionally on 6speed and renntech. There are good and bad on every site. Every each one of us has our own tastes and preferences on our cars (or in life for that matter), just appreciate the good and ignore the bad. If you really don't like something, stay away. Members on most if not all other discussion forums will have bad things to say about the others. If you think so highly of yourself, that you are a notch better than them, why not have some respect for others who may think different than you. Afterall, that alone, may be one of the most important things that separate one crowd from the others.
I am not afraid to say this...while most of the people here are fun, pleasant and helpful gentlemen, there is a snobbish and arrogant bunch who are the main contributors to the negative side of rennlist.
CHEERS!
I get the feeling sometimes that this forum has too many old guys who sit on the porch in rocking chairs when not driving. One key metric is that when someone posts a ten year old e-mail chain letter here, they don't get hammered for it like on most web forums.
But really, there are many much worse types of forum and real world personalities out there. And over
there
.
I know what you mean, but No, I don't think this subforum is bad. That is why I said I spend most of my time on here. In fact, it is rather civilized compared to many others (I am checking in on a total of at least 8 different discussion boards thru'out the day).
However, I do believe that it could be a better place without the snobbish and arrogant atmosphere that some people contribute to.
That hood slice...thing. I don't get it. What in the world is it for?
Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm sipping brandy and adjusting my monocle as I type. Cheerio.
Yeah I knew the older models had it, just couldn't figure out what a 996 would be doing with one. It really just looks bad on the 996, seems like a harsh break for a car with relatively smooth lines.
The front air dam is too much. and do the vents DO anything on NA car????
seems like a terrible waste of money imo. ide put the few $$ towards a GT3 instead. ha ha.
Actually, No. I wouldn't say that. He expressed his opinion, that's his right. He didn't trash or try to put anyone down with disrespect. I completely agree with him, I would save my money and get a Turbo instead of doing those purely aesthetic mods. But I can also appreciate what that owner's done to his car. I think it looks good, especially good to look at but would I spend my money on my car for those mods? No.
You guys can argue all you want, you are taking the word "Haters" and twisting it every which way you can, perhaps in an attempt to hide the truth? My using the word "Haters" is not the issue, Face it, it's all about showing some respect in your posts, read back on some of the comments and see for yourself how harsh some of them are. Totally unnecessary. I'm all for fun and jokes, a little teasing and sarcasm...just don't be a *****.
Enough said.
I am just an old guy, who sit on the porch in rocking chair
but I nailed them damn rails down so it wont rock no more... damn speed rocking is a killer!! You could fall right out of a rockin chair an whack yur noodle real good. I once had a friend lost an eye from rocking too fast. Damn kids these days, what the hell's the matter with them
First off, my comment was a joke.
Internet forums are no place for the sensitive and PC
Sure sometimes we get a little mean spirited and sarcastic but generally it's in fun.
As I said, people who come here for some help will always receive it regardless of whether we all like their taste in mods.
I have been "mucking around" in car forums and email lists for a very long time and the people here on this particular forum are some of the most pleasant and well behaved folks I have ever seen. And being a Rennlist member since it's inception the majority of active posters on this site are also good folks who maintain this community.
I don't think there is quite as much malice as you think.
Yes, the "Porsche purists" take it a little personally.
Just my .0996 cents
I saw this on 6speed when the guy first posted it and cringed. As someone else said, this epitomizes the difference between 6 and RL. As others have said, it is preference. I am not a bling man so I prefer RL.
Btw, I am 24 and should probably get back to my rocking chair since I forgot that I was so old!
If you REALLY want to see the opinions of RL, become a member and go to OT. It's definitely worth the price of admission. Hell, it's worth it just for the "I'd Hit It" thread!
I like the Tubo intakes. I like the light mods. I wouldn't have them, as they are kind-of a poser look, but they still have some appeal to me. When I had a 996, I liked to mod my car to make it unique. I don't care if anyone liked it or not, really - 'cause I'm the one that pays the bills.
Good thing the folks that mod their cars (including me) aren't trying to get "votes" on Rennlist, though - it's a tough crowd in here!

Do those Fake Intakes (INFAKES?) lead to anywhere or anything functional or do they just dead-end? Man, think of the bump in air resistance....and to anyone who knows Porsches even half-way, they'll be pretty easy to spot as fakes.
