However, i did have issues and errors afterwards like you, and all of them led to sensors that were either no good, or just were not properly fitted into those two sockets.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have been chasing this annoying code for some time and hopefully someone has come across something similar and has a solution. I can do some basic wiring but hate tracking down electrical bugs... Long story short, I replaced all my control arms recently and as 20+yo plastic can, the ABS wiring harness connectors that house the plug for the ABS sensor + brake wear sensor has essentially crumbled into pieces when removed. I did a temporary repair that seemed to work for a bit until I did a more permanent fix with deutsch connectors. Somewhat ironically, it was only the 2 connectors on the driver side that have failed. The temporary fix worked on the front but not so much the rear and threw a code. While this was the case, I could feel ABS misbehave as it engaged even with light to medium braking. I felt that was a bit strange and after some time I ended up replacing the DIY fix with the OEM wiring harnesses. I spliced them into the existing wiring with tube plug connectors and used shrink wrap on each individual wire. I made sure that the wiring was correct according to the following description I found on Renntech: Brown/Green & Brown Black - Brake Pad Sensor Brown/White & Brown Blue - Speed Sensor Brown (Solid) - Ground and goes to the screw on the wheel carrier The rear has been fixed and I have not had the error come back, however, the error seems to come back for the front Left (driver side) speed sensor. The brake pad wear light has also now come on even though I do have that wiring in place and it's not broken. The error points to a fault in wiring. The place where I spliced into the existing wiring using the new harness did not have any cracks and I know for a fact that the wiring did not have any damage. As mentioned I'm not great with electrical stuff but I took out my voltmeter and tried to measure the voltage on all wires, with the ignition on . After checking all the wires (black terminal to ground and red to each wire at a time) I only got the below reading of 4.69v on the Brown/White wire. All others did not return anything - just 0. FWIW, the ABS stopped being hyperactive like before. Any idea what could be causing the lack of any voltage on the other wires except for Brown/White? Is my testing off and I have no clue what I'm doing? Possible. Hopefully not, but could this point to some kind of a short upstream? but where? Perhaps the ABS control module but why is it affecting only the one corner and not throwing any other codes. Appreciate and direction on this if anyone has seen this before.

POST 2Original post

I just replaced all four sensor hubs, as well. The wiring was straightforward as you know, and its probably likely you didnt mess that up. However, i did have issues and errors afterwards like you, and all of them led to sensors that were either no good, or just were not properly fitted into those two sockets. one of them i had backwards (which is pretty stupid since they have different female hole-distances), but all four are now reporting correctly. (you can see them all in PIWIS realtime for accuracy). There was a need to do a recalibration of ABS, which might not be the right word, but basically it runs a running-gear test and clears out errors and resets the ABS ssytem (or PSM if you have a C4 like me). Maybe you need to run that? good luck

Thanks for the tip! I will need to get my PIWIS clone set up again and the first time around didn't really work too well and see if I can diagnose any further. I'm pretty confident in the sensors themselves being good. It's a good point about the plugs but it would be hard to screw that up as they only go in one way. The puzzling part is the lack of power in the wiring which also causes the brake wear light to come on, despite the plug and wiring being in place.
