if you are paying for the work, as how much more to add the other stuff...might be better to pay for the tranny drop once than to be facing another tranny pull in a month to replace the clutch, ect ect....

Hi everyone, I'm hearing a astrange sound (kind of like a whining sound) when I engage my cluthc, whether to upshift or downshift. It almost sounds like a bad gauge but it obviosuly isn't because it only happens when the clutch is pushed in. A friend told me he thought it might be a throw out bearing. If you agree, can you tell me what other things I should have looked at and/or repaired at the same time of getting this repaired? Thanks in advance for all of your help - David

Is it coming from the pedal or the drivetrain? If it is coming from the pedal, it just needs to be lubricated. This is common on these cars. If it is coming from the drivetrain it could be as simple as a TOB that needs to be lubricated to a bad pressure plate or engagement fork. Usually if it is the TOB, you will feel it in the pedal. It usually shows itself in lacking some smoothness in the pedal.

cannot "feel" anything on the pedal, and I am not sure where it is coming from - I only hear it from inside the car, not outside (not sure if that helps)

If you are doing it, and it isnt too much work, just fix what is wrong.... if you are paying for the work, as how much more to add the other stuff...might be better to pay for the tranny drop once than to be facing another tranny pull in a month to replace the clutch, ect ect....
