The GX470 is a much nicer vehicle, and probably the smartest choice long term.
Leading evidence: 'smartest choice long term' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'smartest choice long term' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey all.
For those of you that also own a Cayenne S, would love any and all thoughts on the following subjects: MSRP discount, insurance costs, reliability, must-have options and annoyances. This vehicle will be my wife's primary car, she likes both the Cayenne and the Lexus GX470.
Thanks.

Maybe it would be better to post this in the Pepper forum???
FWIW, We just sold our ML430 to a family friend to move into the Pepper. We got $7K off sticker on an 05 about 3 months ago. Absolutely love it. Insurance cost was slightly higher than the Benz but that just comes with the territrory (newer and Porsche). Can speak to options, etc, those (IMHO) are a more personal thing.
Went from a Lexus RX300 to a Cayenne S. The ride is MUCH different. Lexus is Luxury and Cayenne is Sporty...You feel a lot of bumps in the Cayenne, but it handles and drives so well.
We have a 2004 Lexus RX-330 now, what a woefully underpowered engine is in that truck. It needs about 75 more HP to not completely suck.
Can't wait to get rid of it, terrible F.
LV: I just have a hard time with 60-70k SUV's. There is nothing on any SUV, that would make me want to keep it more than a couple years. The profit margins on SUV's, regardless of who you are, far exceed those on any car. Ever see the spread between a GM truck margin and a GM car, its in the $1000's. I can only imagine its the same for the CS. Further, the CS is so very technical that its a car I would never own near or out of warranty. I just said I liked it, that it. I thought it drive real good, for a truck. In the end, practicality took over, and I went el cheapo, in comparison....
Couldn't agree more, especially on the interiors. My wife, like alot of women, seem to have a bias to SUV's. She refuses to look at a wagon, like anybody will ever mistake her for June Cleaver; and a sedan is just blah. Thought the Panamera might excite her...nothing.

She's got an RX300 now...5 years old with -- get this -- 32K miles. The car has been easy to own but woefully underpowered and with sloppy handling. The GX470 is a much nicer vehicle, and probably the smartest choice long term. But, given the choice, how can you not choose the porker?
