Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking into replacing my R compound rears on the stock 18x8 and 18x10 wheels since one is patched. Well I have found a few options. The AS304s seem like the best option what do you think. Here are my options. From cheapest to most expensive. 1. Dunlop SSR 245/35-18 2 rears for $240. (245 is smaller than stock) 2. I could get some Pirelli Corsas 265/35-18 for the rear. $350 for 2 rears. Though they wouldn't match the front Dunlops the treadwear is the same so it would work pretty well. 3. Or get 4 discontinued Hoosier A3S04s. Sizes would be quite a bit bigger at 245/40-18 and 305/30-18. These would run $700. 4. Rolex Series Tires SGS class. 4 Slicks. So they have 245/40 and 285/30s that would work perfect for $800 total. 5. Or I could spend $1050 for the R3S04s. 6. Or do I plop down like $1200 for MPSCs on the Work 19s. Kind of expensive and I don't know how many miles these would last. Also, I'd be driving them daily. Keep in mind I have 2 sets of wheels so I only have to drive to the track with these on. Or if I got slicks I guess I would figure out some way to get them to the track. What would net me the best lap times? Which option would you select?

POST 2Original post

I would not mix and match front and rear tires. If you have a punctured rear MPSC, would simply buy two MPSC's for the rear. You need to buy a set of 4 tires should you decide to buy a different tire. You risk poor handling and an accident at the track. Your choice will depend on your budget and ultimate goals. The Hoosiers will not last very long compared to the MPSC. Again, don't mix tires! That said, why go with smaller and inferior Dunlops and Pirelli's. Why do you need slicks? Are you competing? They are used so I assume they don't come with any warranty! They also have a much smaller window of performance than the MPSC and will last far less. Make your life simple and safe, buy a new rear set of MPSC's. When they are done, I would replace them with Toyo RA-1's.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry, just to clarify right now I have the Dunlop SSR rears and fronts on there now. I would just buy two new Dunlop rears but they are unavailable anymore on tire rack. Right now they are 225 and 265 respectively.
