Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

I do like the idea of a portable one you can take from vehicle to vehicle, though, since that's a big chunk of change to tie up in multiple cars if only used occasionally.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 2Original post

I have a Garmin iQue with cradle and I find the routing algorithm to be superior to that of my wife's BMW, for what it's worth. It's also portable from car to car (I take it to rental cars, in the US and Europe) and can be set to be used as a pedestrian. Of course it's much cheaper, too.

POST 3Original post

I have the Garmin Quest and it's superior to any fixed unit I've used in a car.

POST 4Original post

Portables do work well. Only downside are: 1. Not tapped into car ECU to interpolate position when gps signal is lost 2. Not integrated (obvious) 3. GPS antennae usually not as strong as an external one 4. No voice command On the upside: 1. High end portable ($800-1000) have touch screen for easy addr entry. Most German Nav doesn't. 2. Take from car to car 3. Cost less and easy to put in. I'm waiting until the address can be entered by voice. With voice recognition phone system, I'd think it's easy to do in a couple of years.

POST 5Original post

The Porsche unit looks cool in the dashboard. I use it regularly and has helped me from getting lost in uncharted territory but IMHO it is as stupid (basic) as Nav systems go. Portables don't look as good in the interior of your car (esthetics wise), but for at least $2500 USD less than the Porsche unit not a bad deal... I'd rather put the money into an exhaust system upgrade (PSE). Cheers.

POST 6Original post

I briefly had a TomTom Go which was a total P.O.S. I do like the idea of a portable one you can take from vehicle to vehicle, though, since that's a big chunk of change to tie up in multiple cars if only used occasionally.
