Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The orginal motor was replaced at 36k, I bought the car used.
Leading evidence: 'Replace orginal motor' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace orginal motor' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I run a 3.6L so the class weight is 3040 with driver, which should put me and my gear right on target, plus we can use 100lbs of ballast.

At last month's club races at TWS, the 6 fastest Spec Boxsters (225 hp) routinely posted faster laps than the fastest DE cars (997GT3, 997 GT2, Z06, GT-R; all running MPSCs or similar rubber).

My wife ran my rocker up on a curb and it would be useful to be able to bang it out from the inside.

FWIW, based on my results at TWS in a car that's still 150+ lbs too heavy, doesn't have the wing, LSD, or the JRZ's installed, I would say that these cars can run with G & H stock/prepared cars.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have to thank all of you guys on RL. My 996 parts have been recycled all over the country and Canada, that is so cool. I have also bought parts from other RL cars. Truely a great community! Posting a few photos from yesterday at Eagles Canyon Raceway. I'll run in GTB1 until the 996spec class is adopted. Thanks for all the help and lowering the cost of my build. And for anyone thinking about using a 996 as a track car platform... DO IT!
Projects for the future adding JRZ shocks, 996spec wing, front spoiler, and removing more weight 1LB. at a time.
Cool pics...what is your current car weight? Have you done any engine work/rebuild?And last, what will you do to remove more weight? Looks like a nice project.
More pictures of the interior please.
I am interested in how "streetable" this could be but I'm also looking for a photo of the passenger side rear door sill. Specifically I am wondering if there is any access to the inside of the rear rocker/quarter panel through the interior.
My wife ran my rocker up on a curb and it would be useful to be able to bang it out from the inside.
Oh yes - and what did you do for a shifter and did you use motorsport cables. And suspension links...are any of them stock?
The car weights very close to 2800lbs, it engine is a stock 2005 3.6l. The orginal motor was replaced at 36k, I bought the car used. I have had an accusump installed to solve the oil starvation problem.
To dump more weight i'll remove the more steel from the doors, swiss cheese the front and rear bumpers, and cut any un-needed wiring.
The shifter is a from a stock 997, the cables are original to the 2002. I posted a photo of the passenger side real quarter, you can see the cut out that you might be able to access to straighten the panel.
The car is borderline street legal, with out the horn it will not pass state inspection, the muffler delete may also be a problem. Net, with the roll bar installed, I would not drive it on the street with out a helmet. If you are thinking about having both a street car and PCA racing look at the stock class rules.
The rules are posted to a PDF at this link:

I read the rules for the class and it isn'r as bad as F1 with Bernie but step by step a guess a guy could pass the rules. Good luck working on the car.
You mention the car is close to 2800 while the rules state 2850 lbs as the lowest allowed weight. Good luck making friends at te local scales the moving companies use. Used to be $100 per weighing a long time ago in N. Virginia. I guess the best thing to do is have positions for attaching weights so you get to add the required weight where it works best.
I run a 3.6L so the class weight is 3040 with driver, which should put me and my gear right on target, plus we can use 100lbs of ballast. You are correct about placing weight where it works best.

At last month's club races at TWS, the 6 fastest Spec Boxsters (225 hp) routinely posted faster laps than the fastest DE cars (997GT3, 997 GT2, Z06, GT-R; all running MPSCs or similar rubber). The racing groups had more cars than the DE groups, so the DE cars were getting more laps without traffic. Just goes to show you that mass, suspension, and brakes are far more important than sheer horsepower.
The Spec 996s will be faster than that. Good stuff!!
