Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm about to change the oil out of my 996. I have purchased a cartridge filter by the name of Hengst #14HD77 or 999-107 225-52 HE. I am wondering if this is the correct oil filter. This is a German product in the parts house that sold it to assured me that it was a proper filter for 996. I hate to start changing the oil before I am sure that this is the proper filter. I would appreciate your suggestions thank you.

A search of the 99... number shows its correct. 996 oil change is VERY VERY easy. Carefull not to srip the drainplug,

POST 3Original post

yep like 100 times faster than a 993 oil change.

POST 4Original post

After hearing on the warnings about stripping the drain plug I bought an extra just in case for a few bucks.

It's not just the plug you have to worry about stripping, it's also the aluminum pan. If you strip the (aluminum) plug, you've also done damage to the pan. Careful.
