This is not a probability of success.

You should not have to worry about anything other than the deducible (providing the body shop uses ONLY genuine Porsche parts and works on Porsche so they have the propper paints and stuff)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ughhh.. What a crappy way to start a week. Sunny fall day, top down, wife just won her rowing race, enjoying the drive home... then a deer jumps out in front of me, just off I-5 in Lynnwood, WA. Not a significant impact, but enough to take out the front right quarter panel and who knows what else. Car is drivable but has a vibration in the front end. Driver fine but crabby. Deer had to be put down. Have a good Insurance Company (USAA), Body Shop (Centers 3) and Mechanic (Gerber)... Please provide suggestions for what to look for or how to deal with insurance co to make sure everything gets looked at and taken care of. Pics Below... Damn...

POST 2Original post

Too bad - in Lynnwood!!! WOW thats an odd place for a deer! its too bad (for me) that its the passenger side as I have a brand new drivers side fender... never mounted, that I want to sell cheap ! As far as insurance, if there is anything YOU want done (ie... road rash taken out of the front bumper/hood) tell the body guys and let THEM deal with the insurance. You should not have to worry about anything other than the deducible (providing the body shop uses ONLY genuine Porsche parts and works on Porsche so they have the propper paints and stuff) You will be without the car for (my guess) 1-1/2 to 2 months while its in the shop. check often and be a PITA so they know you are picky, but patient... I assume you all are OK - so that is good - Ed

POST 3Original post

That really sucks...for you, your Porsche, and the deer. Be sure the fender, liner etc. is not the only damage. Once they start taking your car apart, they most likely will find additional damage. GL with your fix!

POST 5Original post

I hit a deer once with my old Mercedes Deisel, I was pissed about it till someone said you are lucky if the deer slides up the hood after being hit it can kill or injure the occupants. Good to hear you were un-injured

+1. Still it sucks.

POST 8Original post

That is an easy fix. Looks like just the fender took the beating. The fender wells are plastic so they are probably ok. Quick turn-around. Vibration? I wouldn't think it would cause an issue unless a mass of deer parts is plastered in the inside of the wheel. Sorry to hear though. GL with fix and insurance.

POST 9Original post

Good to hear that you are OK. I have nightmares about hitting deers with the Pcar. Since the car is so low, you would just clip the legs while the body is still around...

POST 10Original post

Could have been much worse, you guys ever seen the pics of Thaddeus's 993? New roof. windshield... what a mess.

POST 12Original post

Mount the Deer to the hood, then nobody will notice the dent.
