Suggestion

Changing over to a widebody is cost prohibitive for a number of reasons: it might end up looking like a widebody, but it will never be one and you'll have spent a ton of money building a car that nobody will ever want.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, Im new to the forums and had some questions about the 996. Hope I can get some sort of direction on this amazing vehicle: I currently own a 2003 911 c2. Factory aero kit. Midnight blue on tan. Now the c2 came with the narrow body minus the wide rear end that the c4s and turbo come in. Is there a kit that I could purschase, that would give me that wide body look? Would I have to replace both front fenders and rear fenders to get the wide body turbo look? Secondly my car is stock, I was looking to add 15-20hp. How would I go about this with simple bolt ons? Would gt2/gt3 headers fit on a 03 911 c2? If so would i have to fabricate any part of the engine bay? What is the loudest meanest cat back exhaust I can purschase for the 03 911 c2? Ive checked BB they have the gt2 headers and exhaust, just wanted to know if this would be a wise investment. Once again any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Sun Toronto Ontario Canada.

POST 2Original post

Hey Sun, welcome and we need pics first off, your aero C2 sounds great. Exhaust upgrade is always reasonable, but converting to a wide body sounds a bit crazy. Anyway, NB is better because you've got a couple extra inches of room to pass in tight situations.

#1 Post Pics #2 read my book LINK Click Here #3 Search #4 Ask prior to buying #5 stay clear of GT2 parts and lastly WELCOME, post some pics maybe a quick blurp as to what you want to do with your new toy

POST 4Original post

Welcome to the fold! Yes, do post some pics; it's a right of passage here! Go over to the Canada forum and you'll meet a very large community of P-car owners in the GTA. As far as mods go: if this is your first Porsche, first learn to drive it like a Porsche...don't mean to sound arrogant, but the best first mod you can do with these cars is to "fix the nut behind the wheel". Bring it out to Mosport for a trackday and you'll soon see how much power this car already has! Exhaust: totally subjective. if you come out to one of our Saturday morning get togethers, you'll hear Tubi, PSE (factory- mine), PSE (DIY mod), BB, etc... No simple bolt-ons exist to give you an extra 15-20 hp. PAG doesn't leave too much on the table. Factory X-51 powerkit is something like $15,000 CAD and gives you 20hp. Changing over to a widebody is cost prohibitive for a number of reasons: it might end up looking like a widebody, but it will never be one and you'll have spent a ton of money building a car that nobody will ever want. Heavily "customized" Porsches end up being worth significantly less than they were before the changes. Best bet is to eventually find a good widebody (TT, C4S, GT2) and upgrade.

POST 6Original post

^Or a GT3RS. Don't be fooled by claims that you can increase 20 HP by simple bolt on intake/exhaust modifications. You will not feel the difference; moreover, your wallet will be much lighter. Take that money and participate in some DE events where you will have a great deal of fun, of course the fun comes into play once you can set your ego aside and realize you have some homework to do.
