Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm going to be replacing the passenger seat switch assembly on a 99 comfort seat. Do I have to take the entire seat out for switch replacement? The only thread I could find with step by step instructions for anything to do with a seat was a seat replacement. Anyone replaced a switch before? Thanks, Ethan

POST 2Original post

First take the key out and put it away until you are done. Or you risk lighting the airbag light. On my sport seats I have one lever that slides off and a large plastic escutcheon that has the switches mounted on it. It is held on with a couple small screws and some tabs. If you take that side piece off you should be able to change switches. If your wires only disconnect at the main connector under the seat you can just unbolt the seat and lean it back to get to the connector.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you VERY MUCH for the reply. That helps immensely. I will be attempting this early next week. Thanks again.

POST 4Original post

I had to replace this a couple of years ago. I'm not 100% sure you need to remove the seat, but it's only four bolts and it makes for a lot more working room. In my experience it's easier to remove a few things to make your life easier. -Shawn
