Normally the cars used for stunts like that are beyond hope body wise and just patched to look good.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Here is your new goal................ NEED MORE???????? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

POST 2Original post

Great video, I wish I had a place where I could pratice throwing the tail out around corners without the fear of wrapping the car around a tree or sign post. (and have unlimited funds for new tires, lol)

POST 3Original post

Well with my summer tires and the below freezing temps I'm sure I could get pretty sideways if I take it for a "spin"

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

see where the black one tags the rail a little.... yea, that "bump" and the set of tires would set me back YEARS finacialy ! - and fully airborn!! LOVE IT! glad you liked it!

POST 5Original post

Whenever asked this question my first reaction is "No". I have yet to be wrong.

POST 7Original post

Cool stuff. Here is another one going sideways http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7abO...eature=channel

POST 8Original post

I hiked up pikes peak a couple of summers ago. Does that count?

POST 9Original post

Only if your girl friend's name was Pike Peak

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 8122747

Only if you got your rear end to break loose. Uh, nevermind.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hiked? or walked up the road.......

POST 12Original post

nice vids!.... gotta have big brassy ones to drive like that on that hill. The track looks much more civil by a thousand fold.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I drive Pikes Peak on the PS3 (DIRT) love it.....about as much as the ring - takes just a tad longer and the graphics on DIRT ROCK

POST 14Original post

Both of those videos are amazing! There's just something so amazing about the sound of a GT3 engine at full chat! Absolute music to my ears.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have not tried DIRT2 yet.... I only havd the original. You get to drive in a Toyota Tundra with about 1000 hp too... thing is sick fast! - though I prefer my GT3 In Forza I have a GT3 and a GT2 (plus a 74 RS )

POST 17Original post

Great videos of a fantastic race, I enjoyed the road much more before they started paving it. I had the fortune to go there many times in the late 80's early 90's watching the Group B rally cars race. And I had the chance to go halfway up in May to the campground which was as far as the snow plows had made it. They were only allowing AWD and FWD cars up past the snow line. I hadn't made the trade for my 996 prior to our trip so my STI needed some cleanup afterward but it was worth it! This Carrera 4 was heading to the hills outside of Colo. Springs...

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

that pic makes the car looked jacked up in the back.... thats a BIG roof rack ! glad he is enjoying his car

POST 21Original post

My parent's home has a great view of Pikes Peak from Colorado Springs. I've only driven SUVs up that mountain but if I can ever get my P-car that way it should be a fine drive!

Check out your local drifters; they're all "car guys" and I'm sure they'd be happy to see you and your Porsche. Drift clubs in my area rent out tracks for drift events fairly regularly so they CAN do this in a safe environment. They also go through a LOT of tires during a track-day. Was not uncommon to see 3 vehicles spun off-track simultaneously (and I mean literally see, as in line-of-sight; probably way more elsewhere). Don't let preconceptions fool you, either; I went with the expectation that it would be all know-nothing hellaflush ricers (and there were a few), but discovered they were mostly serious & knowledgeable motorsports enthusiasts with several people bringing dedicated trailered drift cars with full roll-cages and full sets of performance mods- complete with tow vehicles full of spare wheels. One guy went through 10 sets of tires in 8 hours, though he was the extreme. Most people brought at least 2 sets of tires, though. I, unfortunately, just had the tires I drove in on and they were near the wear-indicators to begun with and I ran out of tire before perfecting any top-gear style power slides I had a few slides that felt good, but I wasn't consistent and spun out numerous times. Fortunately, I didn't break anything and had fresh rear tires on my porch waiting to be mounted. Was fun, and I learned quite a bit about car control, but seeing how many people broke their cars and how much $$$ in tires I'd need to actually be able to do this... I think once was enough for me. I'll stick to autocross and HPDE! As I have no desire to get into show drifting, autocross seat-time is probably the best school for me car-control-wise anyhow. Edit: apparently there was a big drift event at Summit Point last weekend: http://vimeo.com/17550445

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just stupid though - I dont get the point

POST 25Original post

well.... its kinda like buying parts that dont fit. People just do sh*t.... Gotta admit... that 911 would make a good car parts candidate.

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yea, I was looking at the wheels and thinking of the motor ect.... parts? what the h&ll would anyone buy parts for!!

POST 27Original post

Great vids, thanks for sharing! I'd love to have my exhaust soundtrack look like that!

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Peter, love the quote in your sig

POST 29Original post

Ed, as usual your videos are great to watch. That air cooled Porsche going into the drink shows that Porsches are heavy out back.

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8129024

yea, I agree... that design will never work (for airplanes)

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 8124497

Has the air cooled crowd seen this? They saved the 996 from destruction and launched something older. That's not M96 smoke blowing from the exhaust. Is it a 964 or 911?

POST 33Original post

Quotes source post: 8129100

Qucik eye. You win! Normally the cars used for stunts like that are beyond hope body wise and just patched to look good. Not that an air cooled like that is beyong hope on its own Any way to paste a vw engine in there since it seems the exhaust is shooting to the left side in flight? How come its only the air cooled cars making the leap? Those cars must give the drivers bigger............guts.

POST 34Original post

Quotes source post: 8130745

It may be a custom modified stunt car with a mid-mount engine and other wizardry to let it do stunts like this. I mean, the suspension doesn't exactly look stock, either.

POST 35 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8130745

water cooled cars cant jump, the water sloshes around too much in the air and causes the flight pattern to become unstable

POST 36Original post

Quotes source post: 8131122

and they might spill their water!

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

break,.... break their water.. you're not married i can tell

POST 38Original post

No, no, no....you need to watch the full in-car video of the run (turn up the volume), I must've watched it 50 times in the last few months, sometimes just for the sound in the background: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSP-_XFnkV8

workin on it wow, that in car vid is GREAT! people have no idea how close they are to death standing on the sides like that...

POST 40Original post

Just last week I drove up a mountain - a 4000 foot elevation clime... slippin' and slidin' tail out on most turns - switchback after switchback... and in the dark - and on packed snow - what a thrill! The mountain was Blackcomb... and we were on a Yamaha! Our time was 2 hours and 10 minutes. If you ever get to Whistler/Blackcomb take the Night ride on Snowmobiles to the 6000 foot level, running back and forth across the ski runs. They even let you run a few speed laps in a big meadow at about 4000 feet.
