I recycle my tires, change my oil at close to intervals (and not every 3k), I even volunteer for trash pick up.

It was quite safe unless she tried to run me off the road like a video game.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Today I installed my new AEM dry filter onto my Fabspeed CAI, some of you probably remember it. I decided to take a spin down to Huntington Beach and test it out. The weather is pretty bad here in sunny So. Cal. and there was hardly any traffic. So I am headed back, N. on PCH. I am waiting at the light right before a 4-5 mile stretch of wide open road through Bolsa Chica wetlands and a gold 996 MKII Cab. pulls up next to me. It's a good looking 45ish soccer mom and her 13ish daughter, both platinum blonds. Only in LA. LOL. The light turns green and she floors it! I was like WTF? So I floor it and we are flying down PCH in the rain at 120mph! There was not a car in sight in front of us BTW. I ease up beside them and look over and the daughter is flailing her hands and laughing hysterically. The mom is cracking up and I start cracking up and we are all looking back and forth at each other laughing. It was a very funny moment. We slowed down and they waved to me as they turned right on Bolsa. It was pretty cool. Made my day
I bet the daughter will get the 996 when she gets old enough!!
C'mon Ed! Just put it in your signature at this point! Something like "Don't ask me about mods (that fit), the answer is 'Upgrade the Nut Behind the Wheel'"
Sorry to hear 2 blondes whopped you
Next time I'm sure it's no mercy what so ever.
Just read the S Cal aea is going to get dumped on by storms heavier than the last 10 years seen. Don't let the car get washed away.

I'm far from a dad, 28 years old and never married. I just respect your life, and others'. I have been in a 100+mph accident on track however (in the rain, riding in students car, multiple flips and injuries despite a tire wall, and lots of safety equipment as well as proper first response), and I wouldn't wish it on anybody, not you (regardless of your judgment), not other people racing you, not their daughter, nor somebody who may happen to be broken down on the side of the road.
I think if one appreciates the forces involved or how fast things can happen at speed when some wheels hydroplane, they'd approach the situation differently. I won't say anymore, carry on.
Ahmet, I'm not sure you realize how irresponsible your story is. 100MPH on the track harms the environment uneccessarily. I respect the environment and certainly hope people would act differently if they knew the impact their carbon footprint had on the planet....yada, yada.....
I've got to stick up for Ahmet a little here...
I know I've done some crazy things on the road, but 120 mph in the rain on public roads while other traffic would be travelling substantially less is pretty nuts...
And as for the soccer mom, to behave like that with their child in the car is just plain dumb.
Anyway, glad you're enjoying the wheels.
Dad out...
There was no traffic!! Zero. Nada. Ziltch. Straight line. Beautiful paved highway. Two lanes. It was damp I will say and lightly raining.
Argh. Look up in the sky, it's Captain Buzz Kill !
I wouldn't even drive to the store in the Pcar today. It's fricking miserable. Almost 4 days of rain with hardly a let up. With heavier rain and wind today! It's like Seattle
Hey, don't get me wrong, I understand you were there and not me, and you saw the conditions... Been there done that, I'm not trying to criticise or judge you, God only knows everything i've done in the past
I was just trying to put Ahmet's comments into perspective. Try consider how the story sounds, and I was more concerned by the woman in the other car... If I acted like that with either of my kids in the car, my wife would have my nuts on a plate (and rightly so).
Sorry, didn't mean to rain on your parade...
Have fun, and keep the shiny side up.
Had a nice grocery shopping run a little while ago in the rain. Was thinking of washing the car in the rain. Would be the best time to drive in the rain when you plan to wash the car right afterwards. It's been at least 10" of rain here since yesterday. I think its raining pretty good.
Lived in Oregon, so wow righ,t can't get wet from the rain hehehe. That's the Willamette Valley where cloud cover comes in and the rain starts during fall and last till some time in spring. Strange how all the schools are named after something to do with the water. If it isn't a beaver or duck its a name of a river.
I agree with the flames but I also know the 996 can hit 120 in just a couple seconds, for a couple seconds... be back down in the safe zone as if nothing happened, this whole episode might have only lasted 10 seconds so as bad as it could have been and as irresponsible and all that....OK, it worked out.
how many hit 100+ every time they drive their car but do it quickly so no one sees.....
(really hope I am not alone here)
Actually I'm rather concerned w/my carbon footprint. I have factory exhaust in all my cars (and have more than once restored factory exhaust even to track cars). I recycle my tires, change my oil at close to intervals (and not every 3k), I even volunteer for trash pick up. Make fun of me all you want, I'm just saying, if you've ever been in an actual high speed accident, you'd have more respect for the forces involved.
I don't appreciate anybody doing 120mph on a public road in the rain, racing a mother and her daughter no less, think about what you're saying... That's grounds for losing your car here in NC, along w/your license.
Never happens. I only buy for the flash and park my car in a climate controlled garage
Uh.....same for the rocket bike
All rain and roads in wet road conditions are not equal. WHoopy the road is wet. Sometimes I could swear it makes the road grip better after rinsing off the junk. It's the standing water that will get you especially when trying to manuever unbalancing the car. I like a mix of dry/wet tires so that when you really need control which is in rain and others are all ate up you can dodge them. Just make sure if you are planning to tom slick the road have the air pressure up so the tires aren't prone to indent when hitting the puddles which sets off a major hydroplaning incident.
My rain is special. It's tropic rain not cold yuck rain.
Sorry, it was sarcasm..I don't really care about the environment....I really don't. I was trying to illustrate how anybody can judge someones actions. I wasn't really judging you...just your opinions. I'm sure you are a fine fellow.
No worries. I hear you and I see your point and Ahmet's. It was pretty innocent and Seattle guy is right. Ed right? It was 15 seconds of speed. She knew how to handle her 996. That was obvious to me. It was just fun and what a kick the kid got out of it. It was quite safe unless she tried to run me off the road like a video game.

Grew up in Germany, spent 20 years driving there, 160+ MPH at the Autobahn with car and motorbike, fast speeds even if it's raining, parents with kids in the cars go 150+ MPH, and I have seen less accidents there than here on the highways. I worked as a police officer when I was young so I think I know about this topic quite enough. It's not the speed, it's the other drivers on the street.
140 mount baker tunnel, no traffic and across the floating bridge 2 am ish, after opening sunroof and looking for the state patrol in the sky.... :-)
(for legal reasons the above statement might or might not be false)....
