Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Quiet at idle and cruising, almost no difference.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok here goes. May be time to sell my baby and move up to a dedicated track car. This is a very fast and very well sorted out C2. The motor is stronger than it should be. My car is a 1999 996 C2 with 76K miles on the clock. Replaced the engine with a 3.6L tuned by Roock and Protomotive with 12K miles on it now. This is a well optioned factory car: factory aero, LSD, TC, M030 Sport Suspension (included in box), heated sport seats, etc. Original Suspension: US M030 replaced with 2004 US GT3 full suspension Wheels: OEM 18" Twists New clutch, new LWFW, 3.8 X51 headers, X51 oil pan, Fabspeed Exhaust Far too much to list Looking for a quick sale at $28,000 located in Northern VA. Extras that can be negotiated for: Fabspeed Cat Bypass pipes and Fabspeed Muffler Bypass Pipes, assorted spacers, longer wheel bolts, extra coil packs, extra oil pan, extra cup splitter Wheels: Fikse 3 piece Mach V 17x8.5 and 17x10.5 and MY02 5 spoke lightweights. Edit: some track day videos. If you know Summit Point you know that a 1:22.8 and 1:23s are fast for a street car with full interior. http://vimeo.com/1215078 http://vimeo.com/1731855 Disclaimer: my car clearly visits the track and as a consequence gets a very accelerated maintenance schedule. Answer in a PM (for now)

POST 4Original post

I am interested in purchasing spacers incl the longer bolts and the coil packs. Are they available separately?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry not going to part anything out until I have a buyer. If I keep the car I want all the stuff.

POST 6Original post

Paul, Say it ain't so. I'm interested in the front cup splitter if you willing to let it go separately. I've seen his car in person. Beautiful car, prepared nicely and worth every bit of his asking price. Wanna trade motors? LOL Good luck with the sale,

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update: added some track videos.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

updated: added the option codes

POST 9Original post

GLWTS Paul, she looks like a great runner. Very well done on the build. Whats next?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Came to my senses and decided to not get a racecar at the expense of selling this car. Gonna keep her and wait for the racecar. Besides, my kids love it!

POST 11Original post

Paul, great decision. What other car is as much fun, looks as nice, and allows the whole family to share in the fun?

POST 12Original post

Paul...somewhat OT, but did you ever get the cat bypass pipes on the car? Impressions? Andy

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Andy, Quiet at idle and cruising, almost no difference. WOT is much louder, reminds me of an old school hot rod with glass packs. No performance #'s yet (like 1/4 mile, don't feel like break an axle again) but I will be instructing with the car this week and should be able to have some impressions. I was going to do cat bypass and muffler bypass but I wimped out right in the middle of the install and put the mufflers back on. BTW: Factoid for all Fabspeed GT3 bypass pipes fit to a tee. So would anyone elses that mates from the header outlet to the muffler inlet.

POST 14Original post

Is the lip on the lower tier of your rear spoiler body color from the factory? (Is yours, Andy?) The only reason I ask is because mine is flat black, of course the car is black, but it's not body color. Car looks great by the way.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

AFAIK it came from factory as part of the XAA option code painted body color. Think they call it the gurney lip?

POST 16Original post

Paul's correct. Gourney lip on Aero cars is painted body color. Gourney lip on GT3 is painted flat black.

POST 17Original post

Glad you came to your senses Paul. You've put too much blood and sweat into that car.

POST 18Original post

Here's a question, I'm told aero cars manufactured as a part of the exclusive program don't always have the code "XAA" listed amongst the options, is this true? I've read where Porsche isn't always consistent with various details like this, but who knows?

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 6507250

As I understand it all cars with aero installed at the factory should have XAA. It's the first option listed on my option sticker. However many dealers also did aero installs on brand new cars and sold them this way. Not sure there's really too much difference between the two. Best way to tell would be to get a certificate of authenticity from Porsche. It's something cool to put up in the office or garage anyhow. My wife suprised me with one for christmas last year. Andy

POST 20Original post

I'm beginning to wonder if my aero kit wasn't installed by the dealer, like you mentioned. I think someone just posted a link to the certificate of authenticity the other day - I'd like to do that at some point.
