Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Beginning to look for a project car. C2 Coupe w/manual tranny only. At this point, will consider anything from a rough driver to a stripped roller or tub. PM or email me with leads, Thanks!

POST 3Original post

Hey Mark, what happened to your beautiful silver race car??

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

brain fart in rainy conditions, combined with concrete barriers. Where are all those cars with the mystical blown 3.4's?

I am sorry for your loss. That sucks...I hope at least you were unhurt physically. GL with your search.. and BTW, way to get right back in the saddle! Cheers, Q

POST 6Original post

There are 21 MK I 996's on AUtotrader for less than $20K. This one is a 1999 C2 with 109K miles for $16,000 ==> Link

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I've seen these cars in my search. There is a car in Miami for under 15, which is alot closer than CA. It may be a stretch, but hoping to find a complete but rough car under 13. Missed a complete roller for 7500 by a couple of weeks. It was the deal of the century I know, but it set the bar pretty high, or low depending on you you look at it.

POST 8Original post

Mark, check this one out. This site has some great cars at unbelievable prices. I have bought and rebuilt several cars from here. https://www.iaai.com/Vehicles/Vehicl...#anchorDetails

Here are a couple pictures in case the link does not work.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Now we are talking! I got glass and doors, just need new bumpers! I have gone to that site before. Almost bought another member's stolen car last month, but the dealer/buyer flaked out at the last minute. I can't see this one in the search, can you send me the branch and year for this car so I can find it.

POST 11Original post

MarkM, The car is a 2001 and it is in LA. The stock number is 5401570.

Another good reason to have Tim nearby!

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I did find it, without logon access the pictures are real small.

POST 14Original post

I for that year I have head lights, F bumper, and some odds and ends. That car looks really straight but the dash projects gona be a bitch. There always a pain in the ***. Mark you should let me do a full CF body for you!! 8-]

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Brandon, thanks for the offer, but hoping to stay in stock PCA class for now, so CF doesn't work for me. I have almost everything for the car, but one of the headlights is broken. bumper and rear spoiler are the big missing items right now. Every panel on my car is bent, except the doors, so this car would be perfect. I have all the glass too. On the dash, since it is a race car all I need to do is attach the instrument cluster. Other than fitting the dash itself, how hard can it be? I think the hardest thing with this project would be getting it to ATL.

POST 16Original post

Mark, the dash part of the project looks very familiar. You could probably complete the swap in a weekend. The dash part would be easy, with the donor car next to your old car. You could drop some serious weight, if you wanted to (heat/AC unit, radio/speakers, airbags, etc.) I'm jealous...it looks like a fun project. I sold my first 996 to a buyer in Atlanta. I am about the same distance away from there as LA is. DAS wanted about $800 for open transport and $1,000 for enclosed.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Still waiting for the car to come to auction. I am surprised that i haven't heard of a single blown engine 99 in the past few weeks. Still looking for other options. Mark.
