Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I will be purchasing a used 2001 Porsche 911. It does not come with an extended warranty from the manufacturer. Any recommendations of a good extended warranty plan/provider that I should go with? Any advice is much appreciated!! Andrew

POST 2Original post

Out of all online warranty companies I'd go with 1source, as they cover the dreaded RMS.

POST 3Original post

If the date of delivery was with in the last 4yrs and the car has less than 50,000 miles, it qualifies for the porsche extended warrantee. It can be obtained from a dealer and they do a complete mechanical inspecton to see if it qualifies. It would cost $1200 up depending on any service needed to qualify it and it would extend the remaining warrantee 2 more years. As with any Porsche you should call 800porsche before you buy it, and get its history and options and warrantee service history to be sure its a reputable car. And do a carfax history to check for wrecks and title issues.

POST 4Original post

I have 1 source as well... They pretty much cover everything you need and their rates are decent..

POST 5Original post

Jon, Do you have any experience with 1source paying a claim after you've made the mods listed in your signature file? Am still toying with extended warranty idea but can't resist mods forever. thanks.

POST 10Original post

If I were you I would contact your local dealer and see what company they prefer. Then you can compare coverages. I assume that the dealer will be going your warranty work. I just purchased a 2001 that is Porsche Certified and it was explained to me that the dealer is not to sell the certification to customers that come into the dealership with their own car. The certification program is for cars they take in that qualify. I also was told that the certified warranty for my car cost the dealer $1700..........Jeff
