Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

while driving my 00 996 cab, my radio suddenly faded - beeped 3 times - and turned itself off. i pressed the power button and it came back on, but i could not change stations. it went off again (no beeps). i powered back on and no problems since. sound familiar?

POST 2Original post

I haven't had that but I did have the situation where sometimes (about once a week) the stereo would light up and appear to work but no sound would come out. Usually (not always) I could press a few buttons, the display would flicker and then it would work. I just took it to the dealer for this (and a blown speaker) and they told me the amp was faulty and that they had swapped it out. Barry

POST 3Original post

what year / model is your car if it is MY2003 or later, it could just be gremlins that plague the CDR-23

POST 4Original post

same thing happend to me 996 C2 2001 CDR-22 any advice?

POST 6Original post

My 2002 did the same thing once a few months ago, haven't had any problems since. After it sat a while it was fine. I think its the CDR-22 as well.

POST 7Original post

Had similar issues with my CDR-23. Brought it to the dealer (Rusnal Westlake). They diagnozed the CD Unit and amp as early models and completely replaced them for free. That was a month ago. Everything working great.

POST 8Original post

They did that without seeing the problem themselves? I'm so sick of my dealer not fixing things because they can't see the problem, even though I tell them what the problem is.

POST 9Original post

In my case, it was a know issue with the Becker CDR-23, Amp and the alarm system. They had a service bulletin that showed a range of CD/amp serial numbers that Porsche wants replaced because of QA issues with Becker. It just so happens the ones in mine was in that range.

POST 10Original post

I had problems like this early on. Radio would display station, etc. but no sound. If I turned off car completely and restarted again it would usually go away. Then it just stopped happening after a few K miles and I never had it checked out.
