Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have seen shops like these run this crap through a Chevy Cavalier and it ran like crap.

I used an engine cleaner once, but it sounds like it might have issues.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Here are the chain of events.
1. Gas low, stopped to get fuel. Temp outside dropping to around 29 deg.
2. Fill tank, paid and pulled out.
3. Upon reving the engine and then letting off as I approached a stop sign...I got a strange vibration. A (best description I can think of) bbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... I felt it in my seat and floor.
4. Turned left and rev'd hard to get through a light and continued up the road to 60/70mph.
5. Next light. I am now downshifting. Same feeling and sound as I let off the gas and then, throttle blip to downshift to 3rd (5000 on revs). "bbbbrrrrrrr"
6. I stop...then get going. from this point on...no sound or vibration.
I thought this was very odd. Any ever experience this before? Upon driving to work this morning (sunny and 19 outside), nothing...nada. I am not really to concerned. If it breaks...I'll fix it.
Just curious...clutch / flywheel perhaps?
TIA,
Chad
Nay. I had already been driving for some time. All components were at operating temp. I shut the car down for about 10min while I filled the tank...
Kinda perplexing isn't it.

Gas?
I had what I believe was a bad tank of gas a couple months ago. I thought the car was going to die.
I also find the car is sensitive to the different types of gas. So much so as I started doing some research on it. What I found was interesting. BMW along with other manufacturers have been complaining to the power at be that the standards and consistency of gas has been on downward spiral in the US, especially in the Northeast. The main focus was on lack of detergents in gas to prevent buildup but apparently other things are also lacking.
While most of it is likely in my head, I swear my car runs better on BP/Amcoc gas and terrible on Shell.
If it is a gas problem, it would be related to the previous tank of gas not what you just pumped. You would have still be running of the gas in the lines during the period you were experiencing the vibration you are speaking of.
Chad,
My car feels different and or sounds different EVERY time I get in it. Never experienced such an inconsistent vehicle ever. I can't put it in words, but go with me on this one, I'm no dummy. It drives and or sounds different daily.
I have often wondered if regularly using an oil additive like BG MOA is effective in extending engine life and valve health over the long term. Anyone got an opinion on this?

Chad:
Why is this an issue for Nikasil? From what I understand, its the high sulfer content in unrefined gas that caused the Nikasil to decay. Your giving me a fright. I used an engine cleaner once, but it sounds like it might have issues. Please tell.
Engine fuel system cleaner is okay. Example I prefer Techron. Good stuff. I run a bottle of it every 10-12K miles. But, oil additives such as Slick 50 effect more than just the fuel system. They interact with the metal and leave a coating. Good for some engines, but I'd be leary of using oil additives on a porsche engine. I believe this is even mentioned in the owner's manual.
Edit: The cleaner link you posted, I would also be leary of. Who knows what that cleaner really is. I have seen shops like these run this crap through a Chevy Cavalier and it ran like crap. Stick to what your manual mentions. And, if you do not take my word for it, contact a local Porsche Tech.

Sounds like the PRNDM resynchronizing its moloniod. It will typically do that at after a refuel when the temperature is below 45? F
Don't worry. It is just like an ABS startup cycle.
