Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings, After the original warranty runs out, it's time for (insurance). What warranty have you purchased? How close is it to the original in terms of covered conditions? Price and length? Thanks Gary C2 Cab 2004

POST 2Original post

I purchased an extended warranty when I bought my 993 years ago. It wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. Suggest that you read the fine print carefully, many of them have deductables and a lot of items are not covered.

POST 3Original post

I first bought a warranty from a local Porsche shop for $1700 for 3 years. The first problem I had was with my fuel level reading.....which now points to a possible faulty cluster. Guess what...my cheapo warranty does not cover it. Had to get it canceled and after further research figured that the best way to go is through a local porsche dealer. They sell 3rd party warranty products. I paid $4700 for a 4 year/48 K mile warranty. Pros 1. All repairs are done by the dealer. 2. Dealer direct bills the warranty company so you dont have to pre pay and go through a nasty claim process. 3. The day your car is dropped in, the warranty company is kept in the loop and they pre-clear all repair work so that there are no problems later(or so I am told) Cons 1. Its not cheap. There are other threads on here which talk about it. Some say if you can't afford the repairs you should not buy a Porsche which I find to be some rather amusing elitist crap. At the end of the day its not about what your net worth is...its about how much is peace of mind worth to you for the next 4 years.

POST 4Original post

I bought one through warrantydirect.com They have been terrific, easy to deal with, pay directly to dealer, no claim forms. Make sure you get an exclusionary warranty so you know EXACTLY what is NOT covered, then you know you are safe with everything else. So far they have paid out $1600 for me, RMS and expansion tank replacement. No questions. andy Do a search this has been covered hundreds of times.

I just went through this. I would not have bought an extended warranty, but the intermediate shaft problem has me a bit spooked. I bought a Vehicle Security Care plan through insurancepoliciesonline.com after seeing some favorable comments at renntech.org. The reason why I found this attractive was because the coverage (at least in Texas) is insured by Virginia Surety Company, Inc., which is an admitted insurer in Texas, publishes its financial statements, and has a rating with several ratings agencies. I have not used it yet. One Porsche dealer service guy told me that no dealer would accept this coverage and I would have to pay for the repair and try to get reimbursed. Another dealer service guy told me that they did work with this company, but it paid less than their shop rate and sometimes specified used parts. Not sure how much truth there is here. Only time will tell.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I will speak to me dealer and confirm coverage on Warrantydirect.

I would have dumped the 5K in an investment account and used it to pay for any repairs over the 3-4 years. At the end you will more than likely have most of that money still there!
