This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sold my beloved 993 to a fellow Rennlister, what a great experience! For my 200th post I present dealer photos of my 2001 996 with only 10,500 miles. Looking for a break in the weather to drive her home.

POST 2Original post

Congratulations! That's a beautiful Carrera! Awesome mileage.

POST 3Original post

I had to go out to ck my garage to make sure my 996 is still there! LOL! Looks just like my 996. Congrat on a great upgrade, owned both 993 and 996 at the same time in the end decided to sell the 993 and kept the 996. Of course only way I would sell the 993 was because it was being replaced by a fcar.

POST 4Original post

I too made the switch and could not be happier !

$36,900 including a full 2 year CPO Porsche Warranty. I understand the guy traded this car in for a new 997 that looked just like it; this car was serviced every spring and fall if it needed it or not. On the market for less than a week. So, what's the break-in period on the engine anyway? Without the CPO Warranty I would have passed.

Welcome, I did the opposite, went from 996 to a '87 C3.2. I will definitely get another 996 in the future, I love those models.

POST 11Original post

I jumped from a 993 to a 996TT. A huge difference in HP, HVAC that works, logical controls, hang pedals, and better seating position. On the other hand, I miss the seperate VDO gauges, better handling, narrow body with big hips, and cheap mod parts. Wish I could have kept them both. By the way I sold the 993 last year for $40K which makes a used 996 look like a screaming good deal.

Sound to me like you got a very nice deal. I would have not passed on it even without the warranty considering the condition, miles and service status. I bought my 01 black/black Aero, one owner, excellent service as well, 11,700 miles in September of 07 for 42,000 (maybe a bit high but I wanted it ). No warranty on my 996, I have no worries. Once again, great looking car and IMO, a very good deal as well. May the weather be on your side, enjoy it !

POST 13Original post

congrats...you don't have to wait for a break in the weather with a 996...they can with stand any kind of weather.....so go drive, make it dirty and enjoy SAID HE who keeps his P in the garage and tries to avoid puddles when driving to keep it crispy clean! LOL

Been hanging around here long enough to know how to act! Let me demonstrate more proof... I wanted an 02 without MOST but with this kind of a deal I am fine with funny headlight, a 3.4 engine and no glove box... The PSM, 3 spoke steering wheel, power seat package, TWO cupholders and CPO Warranty make it all fine, really fine. I wonder if just slapping some H&R Springs is really the kiss of death to the suspension, bumper plugs will be getting some of my business and I think I should tint the windows (silver 996's with a nice window tint rock!)

Yeahm I figured you had been around here a little, which is why I stated another "relative newbie." The springs and struts are designed to compliment each other and changing out one and not the other is usually not recommended. Many here have stated that just going with lowering springs will cause the shocks/struts to wear out prematurely. You will probably increase the frequency of hittng the bump stops and the car could become a little "bouncy." If you plan on having someone else do the install, labor wise, it will not cost that much more to do the struts/coilovers and the springs.

POST 21Original post

A/C that works - there's a plus. Welcome aboard. Of course, all your 993 buds will consider you forever lost, now that you have strayed off the air-cooled path. Ignore the occasional "Ford Taurus" comments that will be lobbed your way. Anyone sufficiently stupid to make such an inane comment doesn't deserve to be acknowledged. They are the Porsche version of racists. You have a great car and got a smokin' hot deal - enjoy!

POST 22Original post

Congrats and thanks for the pics, looks great!
