Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hello,
helping a friend out who may be purchasing a 1999 Carrera 2 Cab. Silver, grey leather 34,000 miles, dealer asking $43,000
Claim local car, has most records, blah blah
my 2 questions
(1)
I looked in the black book for nada retail, they list $46k for good, $36k for fair,
so I am thinking as sitting price is somewhat in line, do you folks agree?
(2)
I noticed all 20 lug studs are rusted, car supposedly has always been in richmond, VA. plus disc hubs are rusting as well, very noticable
could this be a sign of a flood car? I know hurricane Isabel probably passed over this car somewhere last year.
thanks for any replies
tyler
Depending on equipment the price seems a fair starting point. No dealers asking price is the bottom line so have your friend offer a number closer to $38K.
Rusted disk hubs simply mean they got wet. Happens after you wash the car or it is in the rain. Take the car around the block and apply the breaks and they should be fine.
thanks for the replies. I have owned many with the lug nuts, never the grey studs that are on this car.
I will reccomend having it checked for the RMS failure and my suggested starting point would be around $39,000. close to your suggestions.
thanks again for helping with the limited info I could retrieve, car was just traded in, so not available to drive yet. I know the disc surfaces rust from water, but the hub where the wheel mounts to the disc itself was very rust covered in addition.

Rusted hubs are not from regular washing - that causes discoloration on the discs. I believe you were referring to what is known as Rotor Hats.
Hats can easily be painted using high temp spray (be sure to mask off/drape the car, wheels off).
Lugs can be replaced.
If the car is pristine otherwise, the price is probably close. High wholesale on that car is somewhere mid-30's I think, and I bet he got it on a trade, and offered the guy close to that. I agree with Tyler - offer up 39 and see where it goes.
Speaking of rust, anyone know why the rotors get so rusty after they get wet? Maybe because the wheels have narrow spokes and lots of water hits the rotor surface unlike other cars?
I purchased a 1999 C2 with 32Kmiles for 34K last May 03 from a private sale with 1 year warranty. Make sure you get a warranty and look on line at Cars.com and Auto Trader to get a better idea at current market pricing.
Problems with engines built before March 1998 so get a warranty.
Good Luck !! Great Cars
There is a Silver/grey '99 at Redline MotorSports in Tulsa that has 44k miles and is really nice, no picks that I could see (still, get a PPI) but you can buy it for $35k, maybe $34k. This dealership has a very good reputation locally and they sell really nice cars, so... Feel free to check it out at
www.redlinems.com
I've been in their showroom many times and their stuff is CLEAN! I think $43k is high on the car in VA. Just my opinion, though.
jrhers-
I didn't do it myself. The selling dealership did it for me (part of the deal). The only two issues that IRA Porsche found on my car before I purchased it was tired wiper blades and rusted lug nuts. I asked to dealer to take care of those items before I bought it and voila.
buyer just purchase car for 39,000 today, unknown RMS history and Airbag light stays on all the time. but he felt he worked the dealer down enough, and you all know how 911's can kinda suck people in, whether it is a good deal or not.
996's are not my cup of tea, but I felt good for the buyer and feel he made a good purchase
thanks for the replies folks.
