Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi. I just found this car program thing on Costco.com, and they have a special discount for members. So I want to know has anyone used it before? How much discount you got? I heard it's invoice + some amount. Please share your stories. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Funny you should ask. I never thought very much of this program, as my experience in buying two other cars was that dealer just told me their Costco price and we started from there (and I wasn't even a member). However, when I was shopping seriously for a 40th Anniversary about a month ago (which I ended up not getting), I asked the local dealer, Barrier Motors in Bellevue, WA, about Costco pricing and the sales rep told me they didn't participate. Today, I went to the Kirkland HQ Costco (which I hardly ever do) and lo and behold, there was a Boxster from Barrier Motors advertising the car program. I don't mean to turn this into a rant about Barrier Motors. But, you know, I probably would have actually bought the car had the offer at Barrier been even reasonable. I went in, actually intending to purchase, already with a very good offer from a dealer about 100 miles away, Roger Jobs in Bellingham ($17.5K off MSRP + KBB trade-in on my BMW) and made a similar offer at Barrier. They countered with $2k off MSRP + 60% of KBB on my BMW. I told them that I could actually purchase the car for less without trading in my BMW at another dealer and there was no budging. And the momment passed, I changed my mind, maybe for the better, but I think the salesman really blew it. Weirdly, though, about a week later, the owner of the dealership, Jimmy Barrier, called me personally, but I was unable to take the call--and at that point had already decided against it.
