Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My brother is entertaining purchasing a new(er) 911, maybe one that is a year or two old. Normally, he turns to me for advice (being a long time Porsche guy) but I have very little experience with newer 911s. Is there a FAQ section or a good thread or two that might help me (him) as a first time buyer? So far he's leaning toward (based on my recommendation) a C4S. It'll be his daily driver in SW Michigan (he currently has an '03 Boxster). Just looking for things to look out for I guess? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Doug, If anyone has the market update issue, for 996's, from Excellence magazine, it usually has good depth of info. I believe Excellence is published by Ross Publications, you may try a google search and contact the publisher to purchase a back issue.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! I have every issue of Excellence, so I'll be sure to check those out. But the market updates are a little general, so I guess I was hoping for more specifics. (?) I don't know, not really sure what I'm looking for. I guess I want to be able to answer any of my bro's questions with as much information as possible (I'm Porsche-**** that way). I suppose on some level it's pretty hard to go wrong with a new(er) C4S, huh?

POST 4Original post

Pretty much a very well optioned daily driver, and your right on with a 1 or 2 year pre-owned. Let the 1st owner take the massive depreciation hit.
